Mercenary - solo dolo - indulgence = angry music (?) - dispenses justice ($$)
Hatched in âmiddle classâ small settlement of Mavagav nestled in a northern valley near the Ovidyas Mountains (bleed into it). Â When he was 12 he had to trek in the nearby mountainous woods to prove that GORARATH had the honor of a dragonborn (cultural thing). Â âWhen yo gizzard dropsâ you must survive for 3 days alone in the woods to prove your honor. Â
Found stream and followed âthat shitâ east bringing him further into the Ovidyas Mountains. Â He came across much more urban areas with bigger populations (of mostly dwarves and humans). Â
On his trek he meets a person who ends up being his mentor. Â A Tauren who he found âwhite knightingâ by killing a rapist - turns out this Tauren was a vigilante. Â Petou was their name. Â Petou was really artful about their killing because they were âmaking a point man, you know dude?â Â
Gorarath returned after his 3 day trek and started to regularly visit Petou in whatever local town or village they were in. Â Sometimes theyâd kill jerks, mostly they just walked around and talked deep shit. Anyways, they ended up traveling together, doing their vigilante thing. Â During this time GORARATH kind of cared about the lawfulness of what they were doing but also indifferent. Â
A person (dwarf?) is following them and their string of artful deaths from village to village and doesnât like what they are doing. Â That person has the whole âwho are you to decide who gets to dieâ and decides it is their job to âend their TIRADE OF DEATH.â Â
Basically this person ends up killing Petou in a way GORARATH found distasteful. Â It was sloppy and not elegant like their killings. Â Maybe a shitty one sided knife fight (Petou has no knife). Â GORARATH âripped that muthfucka apart.â Â Felt this was justified - dwarfâs life not worth living.
GORARATH grows pretty bitter after this (25yrs) and returns to his home village. Â Heâs very changed and every is surprised. Â He talks to an elder and finds out about/treks to a different dragonborn settlement in the western desert wastes of Elyasia. Â In this culture killing is considered much more honorable. Â They also took sand baths, wear little armor (because their scales are tougher due to the environment). Â GORARATH is not fond of this settlementâs environment and some of their practices (see dirt bath) and appreciates the culture and learns a lot. Â
GORARATH gets their gizzard pierced here. Â This place has lots of physical variation such as âlizardy fans and stuff.â Â GORARATH ends up creating a fusion fighting style of what Petou taught them (which is about brute force) and this dragonborn cultureâs which is more about strategy and movement/intimidation.Â
Lived there as an experience to learn and grow as a dragonborn and figure out what honor TRULY is. Â Common acceptance of world curse and pity travelers and merchants that never return from the desert. Â As a ritual to keep the curse out of their settlement these dragonborns trek to the shore twice a year on the equinoxes and take memorabilia to the ocean where they bury it in the sand on the shore. Â
Returned to hometown after getting news of a sickness that infected both their parents. Â By the time they returned it was too late and both had passed along with many of the villagers. Â GORARATH decides to stay and is tattooed as a mark of elevated status in the settlement. Â This is when they quit being a mercenary and just sort of sells DANK ASS DRAGONBORN WEED along with keeping the settlement safe and running smoothly. Â Making sure they have access to food and medical care, as well as serving as a diplomat on the settlements behalf. Â
Doesnât hold grudge against dwarves, but views them as somewhat lesser beings. Â No respect unless earned. Â Must prove their honor. Â Thinks of them as dishonorable. Â
Fights when: Â implied that they arenât elegant or honorable. Â
Mannerisms: Â tail swisher, great fashion skills
