Had to cancel my Poob subscription due to them rising the price again. Luckly I can still use my PeeDee to watch some good old Blippo +

Added a wrist strap and tokidoki charm to my playdate
I just made a remake of my favorite interactive poem, novena, by Cecile Richard. It has gorgeous 1-bit spritework and wonderful music and writing, I love everything about it, so I wanted to port it to my favorite console, the PlayDate. You can play the original for free on itch.io if you're interested.
Remaking a game, especially such a small one, means I got to get acquainted with every quirk of it's design, and it was really interesting. It feels almost intimate to take apart and reassemble a game like that, you learn the ins and outs of it more than you could ever just playing it.
WE PLAY
AND WE DATE
I'm super bummed. I had to claim the warranty on my PlayDate, one of the indie consoles I'm writing about in my video essay. The d-pad started to malfunction in a way that's known on some units but not very common. I sent it back to Panic Inc. and they said they'd send me a replacement unit, but first it they have to test it to see how it's malfunctioning. They said I'll probably get my replacement in two weeks, my heart aches for my cute little console. I mailed it in this morning, and I've already reached for it twice. It's such an amazing console, I'm sure my love of it will be incredibly obvious in the section of the essay about it.

Just in case somebody might see this and be able to help me: I really, really need help with developing the game I've been working on. It's been stagnant for months, it started development last year and it hurts my heart to see it lie unfinished. If you know how to make support software for rhythm games and would be willing to help me with making one for mine, I'm begging you to get in touch. My game looks like this, it's called Orbeats, it's really fun but God I just can't make tracks by hand.
A crank-based rhythm game for PlayDate!
Alright!! I just finished the first draft of my indie consoles essay, coming in at almost 17k words and an estimated video length of over two hours! My revisions are likely going to cut down the length a bunch, but I'm just happy that the drafting phase is over.
Gotta say I love the playdate! It's such a fun console. I like the concept and all the games / apps I've played so far have been really cool!
