Week 3, Day 4!
Fairytale? I've got some of that.
"Al come on!" Race called back over his shoulder as he swam excitedly down the hall, practically dragging his best friend behind him.
"Where are we even going? And why? Does your father know?"
Race just rolled his eyes, giggling a little, "You'll see when we get there! And we'll get there faster if you stop asking questions and get moving. Now come on! Just trust me!"
It didn't go unnoticed by Albert that his friend had completely ignored his last question which, in itself, was answer enough.
None the less though, he picked up his pace, swimming just fast enough to catch up with his friend.
"Here we are," Race breathed as they came upon a huge mass of what looked like some kind of wooden wreckage. "Isn't it amazing?"
"What is it?"
Race giggled, sounding suspiciously guilty as Albert turned to look further out, through the hazy water around them. It was so much clearer back within the king's boundaries and, relying on his sight as much as he did, Albert kind of missed the clear water.
There wasn't a whole lot to see as far as he was concerned, he thought as he looked around the wreckage. Whatever got Race so excited must not be... To his left. He hadn't been paying much attention but now that he was...
"You've got to be kidding me." But the giddy look on his friend's face told him that no. This was no joke. He wasn't sure how it could be anyway. "A boat? Seriously?"
"A real one! And as far as we can tell, it only went down like, a week or so ago! So there's still tons of stuff here and I mean obviously it's still in fantastic shape, you can see the whole front part! All in one piece!"
Albert looked at him sceptically, "We?"
"Sorry?"
"You said "As far as we can tell' you can't tell at all. You know nothing about boats."
Race chuckled sheepishly. "Alright well, not we... Blink told me about it."
Albert groaned, "Oh jeez Race. If your father finds out you've been hanging out with the scrappers again... Oh who am I kidding. I'll lose my job for this regardless of how we got here."
Race shoved him a little. "Oh shut up. You know Daddy wouldn't ever fire you."
"May I remind you that your father hates me?"
"Yes, but I love you, and he likes making his baby happy," Race beamed. Albert only rolled his eyes, muttering,
"Yeah. He also hates the idea of his "baby" being in trouble and the only reason he would would be is if the babysitter he already hates isn't doing his job."
Race elbowed him in the side, laughing. "Ok first of all, you're not my babysitter"
"I kind of am."
"You are not! I'm eighteen I don't need a babysitter. You're my personal guard and companion. You know that. And second of all-"
"By title maybe but in practice..."
"Ok fine!" Race laughed, "I'm not done you ass. Second of all I will absolutely not let daddy fire you. I swear."
"Good," Albert sniffed in a teasingly haughty voice, "Because if you did, you'd never get to see me again."
Race giggled, raising his eyebrows amusedly, "Oh wouldn't I?"
"No. You wouldn't. Because your father would hire someone who actually did this job the way he wants it done. They'd make you actually do all of your lessons, and they wouldn't let you do anything fun, like hanging out with the scrappers which is what I would be after your father fires and banishes me for nearly getting his favorite child killed in some freak accident that no one could have possibly seen coming."
By the time Albert had gotten through his considerably overdramatic lament, Race was dissolving with giggles.
"In the name of Atlantis Albert, you're such a drama queen! Come on," with a glint in his eye, Race was already dashing away, "let's get a closer look!"
"Race!" Albert shook his head, muttering as he dashed away after his best friend. "I'm so gonna lose my job..."
