I've seen a lot of people draw visual parallels with the Female Engineers depicted in David's Drawings and the Necromancers in Raised by Wolves. I'd be interested in what @matthatt0n and @dane_hallett_art has to say about it. Bottom photo by the talented @brigby Alien: Covenant's homage to Eisenstein's revolutionary editing techniques used in the filming of Battleship Potemkin, the silent film's scene resulted in an un-precedentedly horrifying and stunning spectacle, charged with political meaning. These same methods were used to film the scene of the pathogen drop, alternating between David's view of the city and the view of the ship from below where the Engineers gathered. And @noahrobertmiller Also mentioned that the scream in Battleship Potemkin influenced Francis Bacon's piece "Three figures at the base of a crucifixion" which in turn inspired the design of the Alien Chestburster. Parallels: The Engineer's demise & Punishment Of The Thieves by Gustave  Doré from Dante Alighieri's, The Divine Comedy. Now the thief engages in obscene and rebellious defiance of God, in the action of his raised fists and in his speech. David drops the pathogen on the Human's God. “Take that, God! It’s aimed at you!” [Inf. 24.3]. He says until he is silenced by the serpents. As a result of the silencing of Vanni Fucci the serpents become “Dante’s friends” and David befriends the Neomorph and the Xenomorph. “From that time on, those serpents were my friends” [Inf. 24.4]. Given that the serpents will be revealed to be sinners, who change their shape and become many and diverse kinds of serpents, the thought of them as “friends” is quite unsettling. But, then again, so is the idea that we are in a place where pity lives only when it is truly dead. “Here pity only lives when it is truly dead” [Inf.20.28]. I'd like to take a moment to point out some inconsistencies in the following marketing campaign shown. 1. It is spelled Eggs, not Egg's. 2. Those are labeled Puff Spores on the home Blu-ray, and on the infographic released by @20thcenturyfox it was Egg Sac 3. They are infact Puff Balls, but the creature that lives within it causes infection. It is a courier just like the facehugger. And its called a mote. So in summary: WATCH YOUR STEP. Disturbing the Egg Sac/Puff Balls most certainly results in death.
