Severe storms are expected to form along this cold front today, impacting areas from Iowa down to Texas. These storms may bring damaging winds, hail, and possibly a few tornadoes. Meanwhile, the eastern U.S. is set to warm up significantly, with temperatures reaching the 80s to near 90 degrees—even the Northeast will experience this warmth! The surface map shows low pressure coming through the Rocky Mountains into the Plains state. That low pressure system and associated warm front will lift to the northeast and eventually will produce heavy snow across parts of Ontario into the northeastern part of the country, including freezing rain tonight into Saturday. Heavy rains will continue along the south Texas coast where 4 to 6 inches of rain is expected today into Saturday. Severe thunderstorms may break out across parts of Kansas into Nebraska and Missouri this afternoon. This will be a small area of severe weather that will occur. Dangerous weather may unfold in the Plains today. Severe storms may bring tornados, damaging winds and hail. Record warm will feed the storms that may impact Kansas City and Wichita. Snow will also hit Wyoming today. Some areas will see over 6 inches of snow.

The East remains warm and sunny but that will only last another day or so before a cold front that is currently in the Plains will move through and bring cooler weather. Another shot of cold weather is coming this weekend. Models are showing interesting weather in early Nov.
