More than half the continent, including much of Germany, is set for a third wave of extreme heat this summer. The prolonged hot weather has significantly worsened wildfires and drought conditions across Europe.

As well as drought, Europe has also been battling wildfires this summer. Firefighters this week are struggling to control a rapidly expanding wildfire in southwestern Spain that has forced the evacuation of around 800 people.
