Korean fried Chicken - Han chu @ Garusogil Recommended as one of the must try fried chicken in korea. Supposedly frequented by many celebrities as well. Reading these comments really elevated my expectations. I went with the idea that it would be a posh place in a well lit, easily accessible area. In reality it was quite the opposite. It's located in an obscure alley and is rather humble in appearance. Unfazed by its appearance, we decided to head on it (partially because of the immense effort spent to find this place) It's as Korean as korean gets (in my opinion). Again we were probably the only foreigners there. Though there was no queue, the place was easily filled with people with people bustling in and out, leaving or just arriving for food. It was rowdy and at times bordering market place noisy but really, we didn't mind because it was another side of Korea that we hardly saw. Ordering was a no brainer. Fried chicken and beer was the combination for the night. I mean, even everybody else's table looked like that, we just gotta. One other thing we wanted to try was the chicken stuff peppers, but we didn't have the stomach for it since there were only 2 of us. Again, the apparence of the fried chicken is blew my expectations ok the opposite direction. It came really dark and rather bony looking. First thoughts, major regret. Since we are spoiled with succulent, cripsy looking chicken here in Singapore (from chir chir or OFC) I know I know, totally snob. BUT never judge a book by its cover. The chicken was Delish! especially with the spicy sauce at the side. What really elevated the dish were the bits of pepper studded withing the batter. Really added an nice kick of spice and a different texture to the chicken. While it is nothing to go crazy about, the combination with beer was somehow magical and reallt addictive. Unknowingly, the whole plate was gone, along with the beer of course. Andong jimdak - premium jimdak, myeong dong Just had to hope on the bandwagon when I saw some you tubers recommend this. Definitely was not disappointing, neither however was it mind blowing, mostly because it is quite similar to flavours we can get back home This is basically braised chicken topped with a thousand calories worth of cheese. There's "Kuan fen tiao" hidden within as well. Which was actually to me, the most delicious part of the meal. The noodles were so Q and soaked with braised sauce it was so much fun just eating it. Was it worth giving up cheese fondue chicken? A resounding NO! But still and hearty meal nonetheless. The recommended famous store is actually called bongchu jimdak, supposedly above an innisfree, but finding it was near to impossible, not on an empty stomach at least. Directions will not be attempted because, I have absolutely no comprehension of how the road system works in Korea. Just get lodt and hope to find it. All I know it's that. Honey Dew, cheese, yogurt bingsu @ sulbing, Myeondong Admittedly I was really just drawn to the honey dew. When i found out there was cheese in it, that instantly closed the deal. I know it probably sounds like the most wayward combination, probably bordering gross, but its not!! Make special note that they actually caramelise 1 side of the cheese, which seriously elevates its level +++. The yogurt scattered dollops were really tart but balanced the cheese nicely and went well with the milky snow ice within Love bingsu max!
