Zazie is baffled by houses. By their nature, they live in tunnels, which are the most sensible dwelling on their planet. Humans have made the decision to build structures out of the wreckage of their ships on the surface, because they're not good enough diggers. Or they don't want to be in conflict with the sandworms' territories. (Or both.)
This house is neither a tunnel nor a salvaged structure. The closest comparison Zazie has are the larger human cities, but this has none of the neon or overcrowding of July. After their initial exploration, which didn't take very long, Zazie didn't spend much time in their assigned house, only stopping by for food as needed.
On one such food run, they stop, seeing a human girl also in their house. Right, other people live here too. Their spy bug comes over, flying around Shouko's head, while Zazie stands a few feet away, head tilted.
