i mean consider: Thalia’s powers are along the lines of calling down lightning and… minor air control? Jason can fly, although i cant remember if he can control lightning at all for some reason. Nico’s stronger, with his control over basically anything thats undead + the shadow travel, but using his powers is a lot more dangerous for him. Hazel can control precious gems and the earth’s mineral resources in general, but most of her power comes from her learning about the mist fr/ hecate.

and then there’s percy:

He can control boats, he can do the coordinates thing while he’s at sea, he can talk to all sea animals and horses and for the most part they’ll listen to anything he tells them to do. He can even talk to zebras, right? I don’t know how closely related horses are to zebras but i think I remember seeing something once about how they definitely weren’t as close as i had thought before seeing said thing-i-saw-once. He blows up mt helens (mt st helens?) by either summoning a huge amount of water from within himself like when he cleaned out those stables in the…. 4th book? Or by creating an earthquake.

He evidently can control most if not all liquids, considering he turned a goddess’s own poison back on her in tartarus (did he even have water around at this point to give him a power boost? or did he just do that on his own?) Speaking of the power-boost he gets from water, it basically gives him fighting skills in the first book. (The rain when he defeats the minotaur, the waterbottle when he can suddenly face luke in training) He defeats a god at 12 years old… but the reason why he was able to do that is more because of his powers than anything else. He can create hurricanes, he can breathe underwater, he automatically recognizes things that come from the sea (based on how he recognizes the conch shell being blown in the first book as a conch shell). He can also heal in water… im not sure if i mentioned that.

his weaknesses seem to be mostly psychological: hes afraid of drowning, his fatal flaw is loyalty, he can be reckless. Hes limited by both distance and stamina, but this seems to be able to improve over time (unlike nico, who definitely gets stronger but is in danger of literally fading away if he uses his powers too much)

(maybe its just a child of poseidon thing? But then why isn’t tyson weirdly powerful, right? Maybe because tyson is a cyclops?)
