pixie crunch & piñata
This was truly a tale of two apples. After a failed apple picking excursion, I was left with no choice but to take a chance on these new (to me) apples at the farm store. While they resemble other apples, both are considered prestige apples, with hybrid parentage that fetches them a pretty penny on the apple market.
The Pixie Crunch lives up to its name, with a neutrally tart flavor and sufficient crunch. The Piñata, on the other hand, delivers a texture akin to soaked Cheerios, although it did have a vanilla undertone as promised. The Piñata would probably be great for apple butter, though, which is likely what I’ll do with the surplus I now possess.
