So my mom went ahead and told us to get the 20 gallon.

So I know how much I need to earn to pay her back, at least. That’s good.

Anyway, we got a couple of  new things to put in the tank to give Pixel more things to climb on/hide under/generally chill out on. The stump, the wood chunk, the two plants, and the three-level hide are all still there, along with that little Buddha-y statue that’s just always sort of been there. They’ve been joined by another desert rock looking hide that has become the new moist hide, as the stump is now the go-to warm hide, a mushroom ledge, and a hammock/ladder type thing. The mushroom ledge, the new moist hide, and the wood chunk also form this little secluded shady spot and he’s in love with it.

It’s where the little bug is as I write this.  (Even though the ledge was totally for him to climb on) We’re pretty sure Pixel’s a male, though it might still be too early to tell. He’s got little bulges  right at the base of his tail when you look at his belly, so I think that’s a pretty strong sign that I’ve been right along in thinking we picked up a boy.

I’ll be posting pictures of the new set-up soon. Pixel seems to love it. It took him about an hour to get used to having so much space. When we moved him over, he walked a few laps, climbed all over everything, and decided it was to his liking. Of course now that the stump is warm he wants to spend all freaking day in it where I can’t see him, but he’s happy and healthy and that’s what’s important.

He did have this moment this morning when I fed him that still has me really confused. We were about four mealworms into the ten we give him, and suddenly he just sort of...moved, too quickly for me to see, and there’s three mealworms surrounding him. I don’t know if he spit them back up because he was eating too fast or something but I have no clue what happened. Any advice on what the heck that was all about,  followthebluebell (or anyone else)? He ate everything else just fine (including the three mysterious reappearing mealies) afterwards, and after watching him all day, he’s his normal self.

You know, sleeping where it’s warm, looking at me like he’d offended whenever I check on him, and staring at me while I type, pooping on his one hide so I have to clean it up because it’s right at the front of the tank and there’s no ignoring it....that sort of stuff.

He’s also gotten really good with us lifting him out of the tank to handle him and hang out. He doesn’t run from hands.

However, he does attack the tweezers, whether or not there’s food in their grasp.

Maybe they’re getting ready to shed again. I don’t think so, because he just finished shedding last weekend...but it could be it. 

So it seems like everything is okay. They’re just being a little picky. Maybe they’re getting bored with mealworms and crickets.

On another note, I found some pictures from when we first got them about a month ago on my phone and they’ve changed so much already! They’re already so much bigger and their colors and markings have changed a bunch already. It’s so fascinating how much they grow in such a short amount of time.

Eating habits, brah.

My friend’s geck, Oliver, is..err....very different from Pixel.
