How did you make the GIFs for "21. Pixelsorting"? I saw it from a comment on reddit you made and want to try something like this myself.
It takes pixel sorting very literally. Every frame, I do the following process ~1000 times.
Pick a pixel.
Flip a coin. Heads, 3. Tails, 4.
If pixel is brighter than neighbor to the left, swap places.
If pixel has a greater hue than neighbor above, swap places.
And “brighter”, “greater hue” can be swapped in with any color metric you want. RGB, luminosity, maybe even something with a secondary image like a mask.
Above, I've slowed it down and cranked it from 40 to 150 frames (which wasn't possible before because of tumblr gif issues.) You can see a bit better how individual pixels are making their way across the image.
There’s definitely a lot more interesting work to do in this "field" of non-destructive image manipulation...
