Another crown of thorns, this variegated 'Northern De-Lites' is one of my favorites. 💚 The bracts (colored part of the flower) 🌸 are not very big but the foliage is the star of this plant. In the second picture, you will see that it has some stems that have reverted back to having plain green leaves. I will cut those stems off, because they could take over the plant. Why? Because all green leaves obviously have more chlorophyll than the variegated leaves so they will grow faster. Cut them off! ✂️ Have you had a variegated plant revert back to green? Yesterday @matthaeinichols this gorgeous Euphorbia milii was blooming. Remember the flowers are the small yellowish things in the middle. The large pink "flowers" are actually modified leaves called bracts. The entire thing is called the cyathium. These plants are cousins of the poinsettia. I love using this #easymacro lens on my phone. This is the flower of the crown of thorns or Euphorbia milii 'Pink Cadillac'. The yellow part is the true flower and the pink part around are bracts. Both together are called the cyathium. This plant is in the same family as the poinsettia, whose colored bracts have made them the iconic Christmas plants they are.
