Hey y'all, so some pilot friends are trying to help make aviation a little bit more inclusive for everyone who wishes to pursue a pilot's license and/or potentially any FAA certification.
Currently the only options under the gender label on a pilot's license is limited to just M/F but these aviators are trying to rally up some support to allow for an "X" to be put in the section, or even better take off the gender maker on the card all together! After all, gender doesn't mean anything to an airplane,but it sure has been used to discriminate and put others in potential danger. All that matters in the sky is safety and pilot's skills.
They don't have a ton of support yet, most of their reach currently is between Facebook and Ticktock rn, but if the FAA sees enough support, surprisingly it is possible to get the FAA to make some changes.
For many aviators that little plastic card represents a part of them. It's a little thing that'd mean the world to these aviators who've worked incredibly hard to complete their licenses.
I should probably have a tag description since they are. Opaque. And kind of #rude if you don't know what the deal is.

Thinking about the last time I went flying with a friend and overheard conversation on the radio between ATC of a little airport in the middle of nowhere and the pilot who asked for permission to do some low flybys around their kid's school cause the kid's peers didn't believe their parent was a pilot.
The ATC person was delighted to have such a request and gave the pilot permission.
I know that's a moment no one there will forget. I hope they're all doing well
