A new shiny, a gift from a dear friend in my favorite shade of purple.
And no, I’m not currently looking at all the glittery, pretty inks that Wearingeul makes. Noooope, not me. I don’t have a problem.

Pilot Metropolitan (Pilot MR)
New Pilot Metropolitans!
Goulet Pens have posted some preview/promo shots of the new Metropolitan designs to the site and InkNouveau blog - and I learned from this that the pen is called the Pilot MR in Europe, just fyi. :)
Here are two promo photos:
I adore my Pilot Metropolitan and Cocoon pens and find that they are in my top 3 for how often I reach for them, unless it turns out I dislike the ink in the cartridge. I've been very eager for new color options, so that I could have a few more to rotate through my pen case for one, and I haven't been very fond of the silver or gold (I'm going to ask Wren to bring hers to Orlando in November, so I can see the metallic in person, and I may change my mind).
Sadly, I'm not very fond of these patterns. I like the idea and think that it's fairly unique in the fountain pen world, but honestly all the animal prints with metallic bodies and caps makes me think "leisure suit larry"! The Lizard and Python ones especially - I think it's the sharp contrast between the sections on them. The Lizard also makes me think of a car salesman's attaché case?
I do really like the metallic colors, especially the beige of the Lizard (it seems like it's a softer silver/gold, but still with that silver/gold feel). The Tiger and Leopard are kind of fun, though I'd prefer a non animal print on the banding.
Honestly, even though I don't really care for these pens specifically, I hope that they do sell well and convince Pilot Pens to make less...weird...versions in the spring. Maybe bring the Bordeaux & Titanium Cocoons to the US market? A purple or green one would probably be very popular.
These pens are still right around $15, so they're not a bad starter pen at all. The nib is a medium-fine, and the body is all metal.
