I sometimes get painful lumps basically on my taint- the biggest they've gotten is blueberry or so before I have my fiance take care of them, and when they're open they smell like a rotten tooth. Is that even remotely normal? Should I be worried about that? They'll hurt pretty badly, but once opened and drained they don't hurt at all.
That sounds a lot like pilonidal cysts, Anon! (This is a good article about it.)
Some people get pilonidal cysts more frequently than others, which can be because of a lot of different things like ingrown hairs, sitting a lot, or just genetics.
They're not contagious but they can be dangerous because they're small infections and can become what is called an "abscess", which is where you definitely need to go to the doctor.
Draining them is okay but in order to actually get rid of cysts, you need to make sure you remove the cyst "sac" and usually take antibiotics to make sure the infection doesn't spread. (They also can get dangerous even if they don't become an abscess, so make sure to check for warning symptoms!)
They can also obviously be a nuisance if you're getting them frequently. But they're not an immediate danger, you just have to keep an eye on them.
