It really fucking sucks when you poured all your heart into a fic for an event and then, it's just crickets, and the only comment on the story is from your bestie who doesn't even like the ship.

Didn't think I'd be rambling semi-analytical about the lyric-video constellations at 1:30 in the morning but I guess that's what I'll do now, since I just can't let go of the song, and just the line "Be your own best friend and confidante" has me in its clutches.
Una has been so fucking alone all her life, because she had a secret and she couldn't trust anyone. Possibly not even Neera, who she seems to have been quite close with. And now, that she no longer has to hide that part of herself, it's so hard to adjust to that new reality. And in the midst of all of that, there is La'An, who has to deal with an equally upsetting background because of her family name and the events with the Gorn. And Una sees herself again in her, and she reaches out, because she can't let someone else go through what she has gone through. Like...
Also, the way the camera pans over to Pike when the words go "an island, population: 1" hit me so much in the feels, because Pike's just as alone as Una has been, with the way he knows his future and is hardly able or allowed to talk about it outside of a select circle. And his captaincy already isolates him quite a bit, even though he tries to stay connected to the senior staff at least, so he gets lonelier along the way.
Just framed and reframed and hung up all my con photos and autographs... Which was like, hunting down suitable frames and passepartouts across the house, fitting everything in the frames and placing tetris on the wall above my bed/bookshelf and the wall above my desk. Nothing is properly aligned with each other but at least all frames are proper horizontal.
