What are Yuu's thoughts on their biological mother?

Imagining them seeing their friends having a healthy relationship with their mothers/fathers (except riddle ofc) and feeling a sense of emptiness... a hollow feeling nagging at their heart due to lack of such an experience ...

(Also if Georgina's motherly instincts sense neglected Yuu, she straight up slams adoption paper on the table while Floyd cheers (Yuu unfortunately does not have a say in this) .

Yuu’s thoughts on their bio mum are…complicated. More negative overall.

After all, she was the villain in all of the stories they were told growing up. A wily, whorish, black-hearted seductress, who tricked their father into sleeping with her out of obsessive gold-digging lust. Who paraded herself around the home of their half siblings for nine months until she gave birth to Yuu and, in a fit of insanity, kidnapped Megami to try and force their father to return her demented feelings. The source of the Gracey family’s miseries.

Yuu’s spent most of their life being told that this terrible woman had something deeply wrong with her, something rotten inside her head, so they must too. A lot of their childhood was spent trying to prove this wrong, and even now they will not respond well to being called crazy.

And that’s not even touching their feelings about the fact that this woman apparently grabbed Megami and ran, but couldn’t be bothered to bring along her own bio kid. Half of this is diverted towards Megami in the form of resentment (if it weren’t for you, maybe she would have taken me), but half is still directed at the woman herself in a mix of anger, betrayal, and self-loathing (what the hell is so wrong with me that you dumped me the first chance you got??)

It’s why Megami was ultimately able to get through to them and spark the crazy idea of running away together—she was the only one to tell Yuu stories of their mum where she wanted them too. All three of them were meant to be family. So why shouldn’t Yuu honor their late mother’s wishes and finish what she started?

(Of course, you know how that story turned out.)

They definitely feel a hollow longing every time they interact with the families of their classmates—siblings are okay, since they kind of got a taste of what that could be like with Megami, but loving parents? Grandparents?

Yuu has never had a positive adult experience in their life, so they quietly envy their classmates who are lucky enough to have them.

They’re appropriately polite to their friends’ parents, usually on their best behavior to ensure these adults don’t disapprove of them and say their classmates can’t be friends with them anymore (a common occurrence during their years as the bastard of the Gracey).

But they have not considered that this could lead to potential adoption attempts…

The Gracey family was perfect.

At least, that’s what the world believed.

Mr. Gracey was a multi-millionaire—a man of power and refinement. Mrs. Gracey, ever poised at his side, was the image of beauty and grace.

Their three children—Enji, Leota, and Asahiko—were all gifted in their own right. With matching smiles and polished manners, the family portrait radiated warmth, wealth, and harmony.But behind the gilded doors of the Gracey estate, perfection rotted.

As the children grew, so did the distance between Mr. and Mrs. Gracey. The husband who once adorned his wife with silk and sapphire grew cold. Family dinners were missed. Social appearances were made solo. Whispers circulated of Mr. Gracey’s interest in younger women—women with new faces, new bodies, new promises.

For Mrs. Gracey, this was unbearable. He had stolen her life, sculpted her into a trophy, and now—now he left her to tarnish. Desperation took root. Perhaps, she thought, another child would restore what they once had. Another baby might reignite the flame, the affection, the attention.

She was with child again.And he didn’t care.When she gave birth to a girl—a fragile infant with striking blue eyes and a tuft of black hair—her hopes shattered. There was no celebration. No joy. Her husband didn’t so much as visit.

And so, in her broken mind, she placed the blame on the one soul who hadn’t asked to be born. The child. The girl.

Postpartum days turned to weeks, weeks to months, but the storm in her mind only worsened. She had bet her sanity on saving her marriage. And she lost.

The servants would later say they heard crying—hours of it—from the Master’s wife’s chambers. The shrill wail of an infant that refused to stop. Finally, one of them, exhausted and irritated, stormed in.

What they found would haunt them for life.The infant lay writhing in her cot, hands straining against the suffocating blanket. Her face red, her cries weak but persistent.And above her, the body of Mrs. Gracey, hanging cold from the bedpost.

The Master’s reaction was not grief—it was fury. Not for the death of his wife, but for the scandal she had left behind. Her suicide, her *shame*, all because of a “damned infant.”

The other children—still young, but perceptive—followed the tone set by their father. Enji, the eldest, who had seen his father’s neglect firsthand, concluded that the girl must have been illegitimate or so they believed.No true Gracey could have caused such ruin.

She wasn't.

But the truth didn't matter.

Leota and Asahiko clung to Enji’s certainty. Hatred bloomed in their hearts, nurtured by grief and guided by bitterness.

The Gracey family was perfect.

[Just my headcanon that Mrs Gracey had Yuu in order to convince her husband to return his attention to her but her plan backfired as she ended up suffering from postpartum depression and took her own life at the end. This in turn caused the other siblings to despise yuu thinking she was illegitimate even though she wasn't.]

YOOOOO BUT THIS IS ALSO REALLY COOL AND WELL WRITTEN THOUGH????

It doesn’t quite line up with my ideas for the characters (Yuu is actually illegitimate, though their mother did not want to have them, especially not with their father), but this is so good, I want everyone to read it too!
