“It’s exactly what you think it is!”
Folks, I’ve worked around enough dusty VHS boxes to know a good tagline when I see one, and Pieces might have one of the most accurate taglines ever slapped on a horror movie.
This thing knows EXACTLY what it is.
It’s bloody. It’s ridiculous. It’s sleazy. And subtlety apparently got left in the return bin sometime around 1982.
But I gotta ask…
Is the lieutenant in Pieces the worst lieutenant in the history of movie lieutenants?!
You’ve got a killer running around, everybody ought to be a suspect, and somehow somebody who probably SHOULD be getting questioned winds up basically helping with the investigation!
And yeah, Pieces comes from that older era of horror where filmmakers weren’t exactly shy about showing a little skin either. You don’t see nearly as much of that in mainstream horror anymore.
Different decade. Different rules.
Now, am I telling you Pieces is some sophisticated masterpiece of cinema?
HAHAHAHA.
No.
I’m telling you it’s the kind of movie you grabbed off the horror shelf on a Friday night because the box looked completely insane—and somehow the movie actually delivered exactly what the box promised.
And around here, I respect that.
Bloody. Trashy. Completely ridiculous.
REWIND IT.
Now tell me—have YOU seen Pieces?
Is it an underrated slice of 80s slasher insanity…or should somebody have left this tape on the shelf?
And trust me…
some of them should probably stay there.
