The basic aim of Pilates exercises lies at toning and strengthening the muscles and promoting core strength, including the abdomen, the thighs, the buttocks, the obliques and the lower back. This form of exercise is very similar to yoga except it emphasizes more on the core than anything else. Hence, it is the perfect exercise regimen for improving flexibility, enhancing coordination and balance, building muscular strength and promoting the formation of a good posture.

My mat and band are my new friends. I added pilates and iron yoga to my cardio and weight strengthening exercise routine. I want to strengthen my "powerhouse" -my core. I want to be stronger and love the long, lean and graceful bodies of those who practice pilates and yoga. Did you know pilates can be done everyday?! So the day after my weight training or hard spin class, pilates and yoga give my muscles a goooooooooooood stretch.
