I have rewatched the phone conversation FAR to many times and I STILL cannot believe we were blessed with this. Mere MOMENTS after leaving the house Magnum calls up Higgins because he misses her!!!!!!!! And of all the DOZENS of ways he could contrive to convince her to be his partner it’s “Higgy come on a mini vacation with me!!!” A vacation that will involve ZERO actual P.I. business because Thomas doesn’t have a case and as previously stated he’s eager for all the hotel amenities. Basically, after getting depressed that she was going to choose MI6 over him, his last ditch attempt at convincing her to stay in Hawai’i is to spend a whole weekend with her just lounging around the pool and going to dinner together. And when she says, “Thomas be sensible I have house guests” his juvenile retort is a dating analogy in which she’s dragging this on because she so clearly likes his affections????????? Her smile on the phone as he’s so obviously trying to push her buttons that says she is enjoying this... and I don’t for a second believe that he left his beloved hat back at Robin’s Nest by accident. They dance around each other like a foxtrot through paradise, synchronized in every way. Thomas can’t manage to spend even a day without her, but you know he’s just scared that that one day will stretch to a thousand just like it. He needs her. Desperately.
