In the 1980s, their experiments with Josephson Junctions (superconductors separated by a thin insulating layer) showed that: ๐น Electric current can tunnel through barriers โ a clear sign of quantum mechanical tunnelling. ๐น The system absorbs or emits only quantised amounts of energy.
