We were happy to profiteer from WWII, and engage with a full third Reich if Europe had gone that way. America did not fight nazis because nazis were bad, we fought them because they wanted to fight us.
Don't be surprised to see your fellow Americans embrace the ideals of fascism, because we never learned that FASCISM is bad, only that NAZIS are bad. And not because of their actual ideology, but because they patted their buddy on the back for sucker punching us, and said "come get some bro".
