Why are we Nervous?
It was something I asked myself today... Why do we get nervous? I mean, not in a scientific manner, more why we subconsciously get worried. I obviously don't know the scientific answer, or even the psychological one, but I'm just going to talk about it. Because I'm like that. I suppose it must be, at its roots, a simple reflex to danger which we must have had to have when we were still potential prey for predators, but certain other evolutions have occurred over that time. So why do we still have this sense from our gut which can cause, in extreme cases, us to even vomit at the thought of something. Today I was extremely nervous about something, so nervous that I actually did feel sick. And I think that this reason we get nervous is no longer because of physical pain, but more often because of mental pain. I think if we are worried of being subjected to severe embarrassment or mental trauma, we are more likely to feel that sense of nervousness.
