Iām so tired of people saying x character wouldnāt do something bad because they have trauma and therefor know better. Like, yes, stories making people become worse despite their past experience that should make them know better for shock value suck, but that doesnāt mean that someone having trauma automatically makes them a better person. Nobody says it out right, but itās an implicit take Iāve seen.
Itās the ~exception~ when people do better than their families. Itās a ~choice~ that needs to be made. And a lot of stories where the bad guy had a bad childhood as an explanation for why theyāre Like That are kind of cringe, but the general idea isnāt entirely unfounded. Itās just that they tend to misunderstand ~what~ about childhood trauma makes people liable to be fucked up. Itās not necessarily, āI was bullied as a kid so now Iām going to kill every one I perceive as a bully.ā Itās much more likely, āI was bullied as a kid and therefor think itās okay to bully people. It didnāt hurt ~me.~ā Except it did.
I love my friends. I love my friends. I love my friends.

Tattletale is taller than me.
Comic book writers really underutilize the way heroes unintentionally put their cities up as collateral in every single negotiation. I mean, you donāt see heroes negotiating as much as I wish you did, because comic book writers are cowards and also donāt have the time to research all the layers of bureaucracy thatād involve, but Slade nuking Blüdhaven fucking slapped. At least, conceptually. In execution, everyone kind of forgot about it immediately.
But really, these characters make their home towns the core of their identity in such thematically heavy ways. More villains should exploit this. Lex Luthor helping out Gotham in NML my beloved. Shit like that is why Lex is one of the best villains out there. He doesnāt ~need~ powers, he has money, and anything that tries to put him in power armor is stupid.
Nix is being facetious. Obviously, they know what we mean. Thereās a lot of reasons to go to a new mantle. Youāre given it by a friend. You find yourself with inexplicable powers. Youāve got something to prove. Youāre going to find yourself. You donāt want to be powerless ever again.
But donāt do it because youāre angry or hurting from a fight.
