The sun was beating down as it did every day in the sandy, desert area of Lupus. He sighed before scratching the back of his ear, the tips of them poking out slightly from his hair. They almost perfectly blended in except for the black hue that was mixed in with the blue that matched his hair. He rarely ever was around the others, preferring to be secluded in his house towards the outskirts of the city, almost bordering the desert that surrounded it. 

It wasn’t that he didn’t like talking to the other people, but he found that he just didn’t share a lot of the same values that they did. They were supposed to be at war with the cats, all because they were different then them and decided to use magic over science. He didn’t think that was really a good enough reason to go to war with the other species. He may not have understood magic or what was that great about it, but he didn’t think that it was any reason to unjustly hate people who used it and believed in it. 

To add to his seclusion, there was also a weird mark that he had in the back of his head. No one else in their region had anything like it and no one was able to explain what it was. Much to his knowledge there wasn’t anything special that his garnered from having this mark on the back on his head. He had only decided to venture to the market to pick something up that he needed, but was grateful that he had gotten there when he did. 

There were soldiers there, dragging a cat behind them. They were pushing the other along, forcing him to move if he stumbled even for a moment or wasn’t going fast enough for their liking. A low growl slipped past his lips when he realized how they were treating him just because he was a cat.

Heavy breathing sounded from behind a locked door. Roy was on the other side, grabbing his hair and trying to avoid running into anyone who knew who he was. Unfortunately he had come to the Castle Pherae in the past because he’d wanted to talk to his father and Hector about something. Not end up locking himself in a room because of something he had zero idea about. 

His hands were more like claws and his arms and face itched. He had zero idea what exactly he looked like right now but it wasn’t good- especially not when he had one reason for being here. Knocking sounded on the other side and his eyes widened. 

A planned starter for @pheraescourage !!

A local nature preserve had been seeking volunteers to assist in a mass rehabilitation project.  Tasks were quickly divided among the various participants for efficiency, some collecting litter while others repaired fading trails or removed invasive plant species.  By coincidence, Pelleas and Eliwood were assigned the same objective: they were to focused on replanting flowers that were both native to the area and beneficial to a number of pollinators, birds, and other critters.  Between them, tucked into plastic pots and carried from their base of operations by the wagon-full, were multiple subspecies of Asters and Goldenrods that preferred a sunny environment.  

Eliwood and Pelleas, along with other pairs of volunteers, had spent most of the morning on their knees, breaking into the soil with trowels.  Surprisingly, it seemed that they both fatigued at a similar pace, leading to a few breaks in order to catch their breath and re-hydrate.  Passing comments about the beauty of the landscape, including the active wildlife and vibrant fauna, had dominated their conversation thus far, and while that was pleasant enough, Pelleas was determined not to come across as especially shy.  Luckily, their lunch break would present an ideal opportunity to become better acquainted.  

The reserve was kind enough to provide volunteers a meal in return for their efforts, and most people were beginning to gather now, congregating at tables, on benches, or beneath the shade of tall trees.   After removing his worn blue gardening gloves and washing up, Pelleas joined Eliwood on a rather comfortable patch of grass.  As he settled down, he decided to remove his sunhat, welcoming the breeze as it rustled through his hair.  He cradled his meal carefully upon his lap, and then offered the other man a polite smile.  

Luthier opens the door, a bowl of candy in his arms. His eyebrows shoot almost into his hairline. He wasn’t expecting anyone other than small children. “Oh, Eliwood. Merry Halloween.“

Felix placed a hand on his hip, contemplating the question. He was at the dining hall early gobbling down his breakfast and then at the training grounds. So, the answer was probably clear.

I love animals, but I can’t say they like me back. All the really cute ones like squirrels or birds run away whenever I run towards them. Bunnies! Bunnies too. They all seem to be so scared of me. But I can’t help it! They’re just so cute, and sometimes I just forget about my volume when I see something cute.
