Rant #phdlife
I havenβt finished my PhD dissertation, but I needed money (specially since Iβm in a bit of debt and destroyed all my credit cards) so I recently began working full time.Β At first I had a weekend job teaching Japanese, then they offered me a 7 to 9 am English class... but I saw an ad on Facebook and got a 20 h/week job teaching English to highschoolers.
To be honest, ever since I started working, Iβve felt so much peace, even with the pressure of having so much extra work. I feel more in control of my feelings, have had less anxiety and overall feel more hopeful about my future. I used to think I wanted a job in academia, but the time doing my PhD showed me maybe Iβm not cut out for that type of stress and the related feelings of inadecuacy.
I need to finish my dissertation and graduate, Iβm closer than ever, but I also feel so liberated knowing that even if I donβt finish as fast as Iβd wish, I will be ok <3
Thanks to whoever is reading
