クジャク
孔雀（クジャク）は、キジ目キジ科クジャク属に分類される鳥の総称です。インドクジャクやコンゴウクジャクなど数種が知られており、特に雄の美しい羽根は有名です。雄は繁殖期になると、尾羽を扇状に広げてディスプレイを行い、雌にアピールします。この羽根は「オシドリ羽」とも呼ばれ、鮮やかな青や緑、褐色の目玉模様が美しく配されています。孔雀は熱帯から亜熱帯の森林に生息し、木の実や昆虫、小動物などを食べます。また、その美しい姿から古くから世界各地でペットや観賞用として飼育され、文化や芸術にも影響を与えてきました。現在では、野生の個体数の減少が懸念されており、保護活動も行われています。
