Peter Principles
To go back to what I said about a new perspective or outlook on things, I came up with something called the Peter Principles. It's more or less just a list of things I want to keep in mind as I go about daily life and as I run into problems or whatever. I think if I keep these principles in mind, I can really get back to some past achievements like being in shape! I just need to focus and step up to the plate. I sat with my therapist today and told her about all the ways I've changed and grown up since being here. In that moment I really felt like an adult and like coming to Madrid has been one of the best decisions I could've made during my college career. I am completely excited for Paris and I can't wait to see what living in that city will be like! It's a shame my best friend from home won't be there anymore, but I will make many more friends and keep in touch with those at home. But yes! Peter Principles (I'll only share one):
Self-correcting philosophy: I will make mistakes. There’s no way of getting around that. The only thing I can do with that knowledge is either let it break me or make me. So which one am I going to pick? Of course the latter! I’m a great, amazing man and I can become an even better one, but I have to remember to let my flaws, faults, and mistakes go. So I messed up, I did something that made someone unhappy, I didn’t study enough, IT’S OK. Self-correcting means learning from the mistake, realizing what I can do to correct it, and applying that knowledge to the next similar situation that comes my way. Note: just because it is “self” does not mean I cannot get corrections from others.
