One of the major Spiderson/Irondad troupes that I've noticed as I read is the fic about Tony replacing Peter. Whether it be through manipulation, misunderstandings, or just flat out poor judgement calls, one of the big ideas of this is that Peter gets upset or hurt or jealous. And maybe I just haven't read enough to make a good assumption, but so far it seems like there isn't much out there of Tony feeling replaced or hurt or jealous. Honestly, I'm not complaining to much. My arc reactor probably can't handle Tony spiralling. But the idea that keeps popping into my head is a fic where Peter starts hanging out specifically with Clint more often and here is why. Clint is a father. Clint knows how to talk to a kid. So Peter has been hanging with Clint and talking to him about how he thinks he sees Tony as a dad, but somedays Tony will be emotionally distant and Peter can hardly tell if Tony actually likes him at all, much less as a son. So Clint starts talking to Peter more and offering to pick Peter up from school. Clint promises Peter that he will help Peter figure out whether or not Tony sees Peter as a son so he starts hanging out with Peter more and more when he is with Tony. Tony gets pissed because he just wants to hang out with his kid and Clint is always there. Tony is upset because he thinks Clint is stealing Peter away from so he yells at Clint one day when Peter is in the bathroom or something. Tony tells Clint to "Just let me have my son back!" and Peter overhears and immediately runs up to hug Clint and thanks him for helping him. Peter tells Clint that he can go now and Tony is only getting angrier and angrier at the whole exchange. Clint leaves and Peter just looks up at Tony, almost in tears, and asks something like "Do you really think I'm your son?" And Tony just gives him a big bear hug and tells Peter to never leave him again and Peter just looks him in the eyes and promises "I wont Dad."

Tony overhears Peter telling Ned after school one day that Captain America is Peter's favorite Avenger. Tony gets super confused and upset and starts worrying about it. He starts talking up Ironman whenever he can and starts helping Peter on patrol as Ironman and it is slowly driving Tony crazy that he isn't his kids favorite superhero. Peter notices Tony trying to hang out with him as Ironman more than as Tony. Peter is upset about Tony's sudden change of character, wondering if Tony decided that Peter just wasn't good enough and if Tony would rather be around Spiderman than Peter. Steve notices Peter sulking one day. Steve asks Peter to hang out with him for a day and eventually gets Peter to tell him what is going on. Steve tells him to just confront Tony about it and they both walk back to the tower laughing as they share stories about some of the things Tony has done. Peter gives Steve a hug and thanks him for helping him when Tony walks in and then proceeds to turn around and storm off. Peter follows him and takes Steve's advice. Peter asks Tony what happened and asks him if they could just hang out as Peter and Tony instead of Spiderman and Ironman again and Tony gets super upset and says something like "What's the point? I'm pretty sure Peter Parker would rather hang out with Captain America anyway.." and Tony explains that he heard Peter tell Ned that Captain America was his favorite Avenger and how he knows that Peter spent the whole day with Steve today. Peter quickly clears it up, explaining that Tony misheard him and that Steve was just giving him advice on how to talk to Tony and tells Tony that he was worried that maybe Tony just didn't think Peter Parker was cool enough to hang out with. Tony tells him that he is an amazing kid and Peter gives Tony a big hug and tells him that Tony Stark is his real favorite Avenger.
