THE STEPFORD WIVES (1975)
A classic and interesting horror story starring Katharine Ross and other wonderful actors. My grandmother, mother, and father all agree that this movie was terrifying when they first saw it.
That being said, something about the story just isnât told in that compelling of a manner, it had trouble keeping my attention. I still enjoyed it though and think it is worth the watch.

Movie Review | Night Game (Masterson, 1989)
As of last night, thanks to the Jays beating the Yankees, as a Torontonian, Iâve been put into the precarious situation of having to pretend to care about baseball. Listen, I have nothing against the Jays and certainly donât root against them like I do with the Leafs, fuck the Leafs forever. But pretending to have any interest in or knowledge of sports is gonna be an uphill battle. So I figured I should do some homework and watch a baseball themed movie and decided to throw this one on.
If you want a slasher movie that incorporates a baseball themed gimmick organically and comprehensively, and delivers on baseball-themed kills with a baseball or at least a guy dressed in baseball paraphernalia or even like a mascot, like Mr. Met, who looks like a baseball, or plays with any urgency at all, look elsewhere. This movie delivers on none of that. The baseball connection feels like it was written in to spice up an existing script and gets laboriously explained with like twenty minutes left in the movie.
If you however want a movie where Roy Scheider constantly messes up with his fiancĂ©e Karen Young, constantly argues with Karen Youngâs mother, gets interference in his case from a guy described by his boss (who tells his unit to put in extra hours, which âleaves damn little time for drinking beer and no time at all for watching Vanna Whiteâ) as âa general ass kicker and a very specific ass kisserâ and justifiably calls a cowboy-hat-wearing Paul Gleason âa pussy peddlerâ, then this should do the trick.
Also, I know a lot of you like to complain about age gaps, and at one point a character calls out the one in Scheiderâs relationship with Young. So you have some onscreen representation. But the guy is also a scumbag who beats his wife and gets slapped in the face by Scheider for the remark. How do you like that representation now, huh? Thatâs right. Heâs kinda got a point though, Scheider looks thirty years older than Young.
Anyway, this is low energy and the style only perks up in fits and starts, but I like the flavour of these things and the actors here enough to have enjoyed it.
As for my baseball knowledge, Iâve gained absolutely none, but figure I can wing it. Anytime the Jays do something, Iâll just say âThatâs what baseballâs all about!â and anytime the other team does something Iâll shake my head and yell âThatâs not what baseballâs about!â Boom. I could be on ESPN.
The Exorcist (1973)
Director - William Friedkin, Cinematography - Owen Roizman
"Especially important is the warning to avoid conversations with the demon. We may ask what is relevant but anything beyond that is dangerous. He is a liar. The demon is a liar. He will lie to confuse us. But he will also mix lies with the truth to attack us. The attack is psychological, Damien, and powerful. So don't listen to him. Remember that - do not listen."
