Off the Wall! Era Micheal Jackson x thick!blackgirl reader
Story concept: Micheal having hidden feelings about his older sister’s (Latoya) best friend. And with having to hide his feelings and not get rejected he bullies her any chance he got.
*there will be a part two and maybe a part 3. This part is just introducing them both and the storyline*
It was December 15th 1979 the cold winter of Gary,Indiana. Milaya Williams is a neighbor of the Jackson’s and also Latoya’s best friend. Although she was a bit younger than Latoya, they didn’t care. They always hanged out together. Nothing could come in between their friendship. The snow had covered the ground completely and of course the men were outside shoveling the driveway. And as they did that you can hear everyone laughing and having fun in the snow. The whole neighborhood outside having fun, building snowman’s, snow angels, snow ball fights. You know anything you would do in the snow.
Milaya (Mi•lay•a) didn’t feel like going outside with everyone else. She wasn’t like all the skinny girls, she had curves, bigger boobs, and thighs. She just felt so out of place sometimes. So Latoya being the good best friend she is, is trying hard for her to come outside.
“Milaya cmon don’t leave me out here by myself with these idiots.”
Latoya stands in Malaya’s room. She had posters of famous groups on her wall. A vinyl record on her study desk. Notebooks, drawings, clothes on the floor. Just a little clutter around the room.
While Malaya is just sitting on her bed hands on her head.
“Latoya please no. You know Micheal doesn’t like me. And I can’t stand him either.” Truth be told she never really wonder why Micheal hated her guts.
“Don’t worry about him you’ll be with me pleaseee pleaseee will ya?” Malaya huffed.
She got up and grabbed some winter clothes and changed into her bathroom. Huffing and mumbling under her breath. Why. Just why her.
Finally, after 5 minutes she came out. She wore her white long sleeved shirt, with a color big coat that had llamas on it, and her overalls. Then layered it with a big black puffer coat and gloves. She didn’t wanna play in the snow. Just wanted to be there for Latoya.
Or so she thought….
They went outside and Latoya was talking to Malaya about her staying the night. And as Malaya stepped on the snowy ground she was met with a snowball straight to her face.
Latoya mouth was left wide open at the scene.
“Now Micheal why you did that.” Tito says with his stern voice. Micheal and Marlon laughed at Malaya’s reaction
Latoya rushed over to her and immediately kept apologizing to her friend over and over taking the snow off her face.
“Oh my Laya m’sorry so so sorry.”
Micheal turned and faced Marlon laughing at each other and dapping each other up. Malaya was not gonna let him have this moment.
Next thing that happened caused Micheal’s world to flip up side down.
Literally.
Malaya ran at full speed and tackled him to the cold ground he landed with a thud and she got on top of him. Grabbing snow and shoving it all in his face. Then she was punching him.
It all had happened so fast. Micheal was caught off guard by her tackling him.
And when she landed on him boy was he in heaven. He loved the way she was so violent and cute on top of him. He felt himself get a bit hard but he didn’t care. Micheal loved riling Malaya up. He only did it cause he liked her.
“Stupid fucking-“ Malaya was pulled off of Micheal by Jackie. He was very strong and tall picked her up with no problem.
“No! No! Let me have em. I’m not done Jackie.” She was literally moving around like a snake trying to get out of Jackie’s grip. Jackie only shook his head.
The others just stood there surprised at Malaya. She had never acted that way before. Marlon stopped laughing. Toya looked like she was gonna cry. Tito helped Micheal up. Randy is laughing at Micheal. Janet was cheering Malaya on. Rebbie went to tell the parents what’s going on. Jermaine is standing there just as shocked.
And Micheal was just smiling away. How beautiful and wonderful could she be.
“Ugh! Let me go Jackie right this instant.” She yelled.
“No you might kill em.” He chuckled at her. He never knew she could be a fire cracker.
“Didn’t know you were that strong Malaya.” Micheal said smirking. He had gotten under skin she couldn’t stand the fact he was smiling. With snow all on his face still.
“Oh I hate you I hate you Micheal.” She squealed out. Jackie set her back on her feet.
Katherine and Joe come outside, along with rebbie. Of course rebbie told she was the snitch after all.
Micheal smacked his teeth in annoyance.
“Now what in the hell is going on.” Joe said with his authoritative voice. Making everyone straighten up.
“Well Malaya tackled Micheal like some football player it was hilarious.” Marlon said laughing and pointing at Micheal.
Joe and Katherine looked astonished.
“That true laya?” Katherine asked with her eyebrows raised.
“Yes maam I did. I only did it cause he was messing wit me. He’s always doing stuff like this.”
“Well shit, boy you knocked down by Malaya.” Oh Joe found that hilarious and laughed I mean completely evil laugh.
Everyone laughed too.
Micheal seemed embarrassed even more now.
“Boy be a man and tell her you like you. I know that’s what I did with your mother mhm.” Joe says pecking Katherine’s cheek.
Micheal didn’t want to admit his feelings of course not.
The next morning, Malaya swore she wasn’t going back over to the Jackson house.
And yet somehow, there she was again.
Latoya had practically dragged her there after breakfast, claiming she needed “emotional support” while helping Katherine bake pies for some church gathering. Malaya knew that was a lie the moment she walked through the front door and heard loud music blasting from upstairs.
The Jackson brothers.
Of course.
“You tricked me,” Malaya muttered, shrugging off her coat.
Latoya only grinned innocently. “You survived yesterday didn’t you?”
“Barely.”
Before she could say another word, Micheal appeared at the top of the staircase wearing gray sweatpants and a red sweater, curls messy from sleep. He leaned against the railing staring down at her with that annoying little smirk.
“Well look who came back,” he teased. “Thought you hated me.”
“I do.”
“Mm.” He crossed his arms. “Coulda fooled me the way you tackled me yesterday.”
Malaya’s face heated instantly.
Jermaine, sitting nearby with a guitar in his lap, let out the loudest laugh imaginable.
“Ohhh she got you good too, Mike. Boy folded like laundry.”
“Shut up,” Micheal snapped.
Malaya grinned proudly. “Maybe I should do it again.”
“You wouldn’t.”
“Oh I absolutely would.”
Micheal’s eyes lit up at her attitude. God, she was mean. He loved it.
Nobody understood why he messed with her so much. Truth was, Micheal had liked Malaya for years. Ever since she started hanging around Latoya more often. He liked the way she rolled her eyes at him instead of falling all over him like other girls did.
She challenged him.
And it drove him crazy.
Unfortunately… Micheal Jackson did not know how to flirt normally.
So instead?
He annoyed her.
Constantly.
—
Later that afternoon, Katherine sent Malaya and Micheal to the grocery store together.
The entire car ride was miserable.
Malaya sat against the passenger door while Micheal drummed on the steering wheel to the radio.
“You always this grumpy?” he asked.
“You always this irritating?”
“Probably.”
She rolled her eyes and looked out the window.
Micheal smiled to himself.
Then he reached over suddenly and snatched one of her gloves off her lap.
“Micheal!”
“What?” he said innocently, driving with one hand while waving the glove around. “Maybe I wanted it.”
“Give it back.”
“Nah.”
“Micheal Joseph Jackson—”
“Oh so now you know my full name?”
She lunged across the seat trying to grab it, and Micheal burst into laughter as she nearly climbed over the console.
“Careful,” he said teasingly. “You awful close.”
Malaya froze for half a second realizing how close their faces were.
Too close.
His smile softened a little.
Her breath caught.
Then she snatched the glove and shoved herself back into her seat.
“I cannot stand you.”
Micheal stared ahead at the road, smiling like an idiot.
“Yeah,” he said quietly. “I know.”
—
A few days later, the family gathered in the living room watching television while snow fell outside.
Malaya sat on the floor sketching in one of her notebooks.
Micheal kept glancing at her every five seconds.
“Boy stop starin’ before your eyes fall out,” Tito muttered.
“I ain’t staring.”
“You are literally staring right now.”
Micheal looked away quickly while the others laughed.
Malaya ignored them, focused on her drawing.
That’s when Micheal reached over and stole her pencil.
Her head snapped up slowly.
“Micheal.”
“What?” he said innocently.
“That’s the third time today.”
He twirled the pencil between his fingers. “Maybe you hold it funny.”
“You are twenty-two years old.”
“And you still hang around me.”
“Because Latoya forces me to.”
“Sure.”
Malaya tried grabbing the pencil back, but Micheal lifted it higher above her head.
She glared.
He grinned.
“You’re short.”
“I hate you.”
“Say somethin’ new.”
Without warning, Malaya climbed onto the couch beside him trying to reach the pencil. The room erupted with noise immediately.
“GET HIM MALAYA!” Janet yelled from the floor.
Marlon nearly fell off the couch laughing.
Katherine shook her head trying not to smile.
Meanwhile Micheal was having the time of his life.
Malaya was half laying across him reaching for the pencil while he held it out of reach.
“Give it BACK.”
“Ask nicely.”
“I’m gonna choke you.”
“Ooo scary.”
Finally she grabbed the pencil and smacked him upside the head with it.
“Ow! Woman!”
“Deserved.”
She climbed off him with a victorious look while the family laughed again.
But as Malaya sat back down on the floor, she missed the way Micheal looked at her afterward.
Soft.
Fond.
Completely gone.
And when Jackie noticed it, he just smirked to himself.
“Boy,” he muttered under his breath, “you got it bad.”
