(I'm pretty sure we were getting our posts ready at the exact same time. <3 I love that.) BITCH! BITCH SO MUCH! Dealer's choiCE LET'S HEAR ITTTTTT!!!! <3 <3 <3 !!!!
Yes, pretty sure we share a brain at this point and it's mostly McShep lol. Anyway, I'm really frustrated at a few things. That thing I'm going through isn't allowing me to pull a Stephen King and pound out 3k words per day anymore. Super annoying!
As far as fics go, I'd like to Bitch about Space Winnebago. It's about what went on in the Jumper after Kavanaugh blew up the Midway station and they were trapped for two weeks waiting to get picked up by the Daedalus. It's not really coming together as a coherent story and to me feels a bit choppy but I'm gonna work on it. Try to slow down.
Here's a quick snippet that I very much like regardless of my frustrations:
âIâve been thinking about what you saidâŠsir. About my not following orders andâŠyouâre right. I did blow up the Midway station because I wasnât careful. I didnât follow protocol. Mostly because I thought I knew better and I obviously didnât. I didnât listen andâŠIâm sorry.â Kavanaugh hung his head, his eyes cast down in shame, seeming to choose his words very carefully.Â
Rodney blinked in shock, taking in what he was hearing, âUm, oh. Well, thank you for admitting that, Kavanaugh. I appreciate it. And I hope youâve learned your lesson about why we have safety protocols in the first place ââÂ
âIâm confused,â Kavanaugh interrupted him.Â
âOh. About what?â Rodney raised an eyebrow.Â
âThat time you were all trapped in the gate, when Sheppard had the Iratus bug on his neck. When I spoke with Dr. Weir about following safety protocols of the Stargate, worried the build up from the Jumper would cause an explosion upon re-entryâŠshe cut me off as being cowardly and egotistical in front of my research team and then when I confronted her about it privately, she threatened to send me to a deserted planet.
Iâm not trying to disrespect Weirâs memory or anything but, Dr. McKay, how am I supposed to differentiate between when it is acceptable to follow safety protocols and when it isnât?âÂ
Kavanaughâs eyes teared up, bracing for another outburst from his superior. Rodney sat in silence thinking this over. At last he spoke.Â
âLook, Peter, I appreciate your apology and I can see where the confusion lies. Safety protocols are important. You were right to point them out to Elizabeth. The Stargate is a massive super conductor and given itâs made from Naquadah itâs also highly volatile to an explosive reaction, as weâve recently witnessed.Â
But in an emergency situation, sometimes we have to roll with the punches and go with our instincts. It doesnât mean we abandon common sense but we do have to adapt. I have experience with Wraith booby-traps. Iâve dealt with them before. You havenât. I didnât have time to explain..."
More to come soon! I'm not letting this slump get in the way of my good time for long.
