just finished watching Always and Forever Lara Jean and i didn't cry. i almost did. but i didn't. i loved the book trilogy and i love the movie trilogy so so so much, these books and movies mean a lot to me and i am devestated to see it come to an end. buuut the hopeless romantic in me has a feeling that Lara and Peter really are forever and always, so that lessens the pain just a smidge. š

For some reason the peter/lara/john love triangle in the movie/book really reminds me of the one between rafael/jane/michael from jane the virgin. is it just me?
This is interesting, and I think iād ask you to expand on your reasoning further. For me, I donāt see a lot of parallels.Ā
I guess when it comes to the LJ/Peter/John triangle, we have to separate book from film because they are so vastly different. In the film, she sees John as someone sheĀ āshouldā love, while really loving Peter. In the book, she actually DOES fall for John, but she just canāt give her heart away at that time, because sheās already given so much of it away to Peter.Ā
With Legacies, Hope is all in on Landon, from what I see. She values Rafael as a friend, but I personally havenāt seen any moments where she reciprocates his feelings or even canonically states thereās anything romantic going on. She certainly isnāt trying to love Raf because of Landonās shortcomings (Landon is pretty much the purest character in the show), and itās not like she has to choose between them. Also, Rafael isnāt pursuing Hope like John pursues LJ. Raf may feel things for Hope, but he states, multiple times, he would never do that to Landon, because theyāre brothers--he simply just canāt help how he feels. And Landon understands, because of the mutual respect.Ā
Peter and John were friends in middle school, but by the time he comes back into Peters life, there really isnāt a friendship anymore, and certainly not a brotherhood. John goes for LJ full force, and the conflict is neverĀ āyou shouldnāt pursue her because weāre friendsā from Peter. Itās more likeĀ āis Peter even good enough for LJ, or should she be with someone like John?ā
