Marseille en février : au nord de la ville, le quartier des Aygalades. En contrebas de la Cité des Arts de la Rue, se trouve un vallon, celui d'un mini-fleuve côtier, le Ruisseau Caravelle (ou Ruisseau des Aygalades)

He’d grow up an our slave, and one day as a kid (ten maybe) has a dream of MTW, who tells him he is no longer Houndstongue but Pervenche. His mother is happy about his new name and the slaves call him it when the corsairs aren’t around.

When he is maybe 13 or 15 his mother dies.

From then on it’s not hope they’ll be freed; the slaves are ready to take things into their own paws.

(They do get some outside help - and Pervenche, paws strong from pulling the oar, snaps the captains neck.

He hates killing, never wants to do it again.)

They take over the ship and decided to become a crew that goes around freeing slaves; some go find their own homes or go to Redwall - there’s even a land team that will take future freed slaves to Redwall.

(Birch Brickpaw also gets over her specieism in time, as some slaves are vermin creatures as well.)

When Pervenche is about 23, he gets made captain. He is worried - he’s a rat, will any slaves they free accept that? But it turns out it makes it easier to trick and infiltrate.

At first he wears no shirt - shows the scars covering him. He eventually gets a nice swash-buckling look :3

He also at one point gets invited by the Current Badger Lord to Salamandastron and he’s a very nice dude.
