SHORT TERM VS LONG TERM MINDSET. I wanted to touch on a subject that I consider of tremendous importance, and that I believe is a huge factor for happyness and well being. I know for myself that there have been times when I was stuck in a short term mindset, and those were the worst periods of my life. These are moment when I felt my life slip through my fingers, days and months went by like a breeze, without me achieving anything. Facing that empty feeling was actually the scariest thing, so any distraction was good enough to numb the fear. What got me out of that dark place was first of all, acceptance. Acceptance of the time lost, acceptance of the mistakes made along the way and a refusal to define myself by them. It still did require a lot of effort, as any personnality you adopt will get it's own momentum, and gets harder and harder to remove as you identify more with it. I am so gratefull that I have been able to unstuck myself, to feel the extremely fulfilling feeling of waking-up exited to conquer the day, and going to sleep knowing that I have done my best. Although I still have moments where I get into this short term mindset, I now know how to quickly recognize it, and have developed an effective strategy to quickly get out of it. A process that I would like to share with you here. So this is just a first animation in this series, defining these two different mindsets.
