An Ode
After many many months of not playing it ever, I finally traded in my Xbox 360 today.
Ohhh, and how good of an Xbox he was. Bought on the day I took my ACT...Carted hither and yon as I traveled back and forth from home to school, from friend's house to friend's house. Not once did he cause any problems. I admit I was sad to see him go.
But thanks to a trade bonus at Gamestop, he and a game an his wireless adapter got me enough credit to pre-order and pay off the collector's edition of the Bioshock Infinite guide, the Bioshock Infinite Season Pass, and even put some money down on Pokemon X and Pokemon Y.
Ace, I shall remember you always. Truly, you were a noble friend to the end.

Whenever I'm having a less-than-stellar day
I think about this one day at work. A girl came in, very happy and excited--my favorite kind of customer--and picked out the Tales of the Abyss 3DS game and Pokemon White 2. I LOVE those games, and always get really happy when I can share my excitement with customers. When I told her so, even told her how cool her tastes were, she was ecstatic. At checkout, they (she and her parents) asked about a guide for Pokemon, and I told them we should actually even have a collector's edition in the back. I had one myself, and told her all about the cool place-holding ribbons and gorgeous cover. We both thought it was just awesome. At the end of the transaction, I learned it was her birthday, and wished her a happy one as she was leaving. I felt so good, having been able to have so much fun with her, and when I turned around, my boss was smiling at me. "You just made that girl's day," she said. It helps to remember the main reason I wanted to work at a game store: to interact and get excited with like-minded people about something I care about.
