     Style Deities: (left) Mother Nature (right) Peace Maker

 My closet bares the markings of four Deities and their impressionable style is prevalent on any given day. What terms will my mood dictate this morning?  As a fashion writer, I am always bending  the rules between reality and fiction in my blog "Adventures in Fashion." My larger than life BFF cast of characters come alive through real-life scenarios and style. So as I scan over the many hangers in my closet and even eyeball a few of my boyfriend's colorful button-ups, I think to myself...who do I feel like being this morning? Do I feel grounded with a sense of primal animal urges as Mother Nature would? Am I feeling like Peace Maker and saving the world in a rainbow of bright florals?

In the haze of another groggy and sleepless night, I wipe the crust from the corners of my eyes and pace the floor in front of my closet. By now I have slowly created a groove in the wood panels below my feet where my cat likes to sit. Ive also started on my second cup of coffee and "Weather on the 1's" has suggested that today feels more like fall then summer. Labor Day is less then a week away and it already feels like the beachy days are behind us. BOOOO!  It's too bad since I most certainly love the freedom of bare shoulders and barely-there hem lines. On the upside, Autumn is full of frenetic energy and fashionable fall-inspired gear. There is much to look forward to: fashion week, Halloween and the holidays.                    So, what fashion will reflect my true spirits style today? I question myself once again.

I pull random pieces out of my closet in no particular order and lay them atop the foot of the bed.  It isn't long before a" look" begins to come to life. Colors, patterns and combinations start to evoke the feelings and deity of the mood I'm in. I edit as I go, pulling pant, shirts and accessories in and out of my wardrobe until I finally have it. Before long, I have created a completely new combination inspired by none other than Mother Nature herself. It all makes sense to me as I look over the clothes. I realize I was drawn to slim pants for their easiness and utility and an easy-going shirt & vest to match. The colors overall are neutral with a burst of texture and animal prints. This is an outfit made for city dwelling and any New York woman knows exactly what I mean. Grinding along the subway and city streets requires clothing you can move in. So this is what I'll wear today and it suits me perfectly! As I finish getting dressed I load up with my most favorite shining gold accessories. I am ready for the day and I feel there is an air to my walk. I move like a cat in the wild, graceful but cautious, and definitely not to be messed with.

Tomorrow I've got a killer meeting that will change my world. Looks like I'd better channel my inner DeVa Warrior style and afterwards to celebrate, I will glam it up in rhinestones and couture like Glamour Goddess would. You can experience the deities as I do for yourself, by reading the series "Adventures in Fashion."  The “Style Deities” are not every woman but their spirits live within every woman. I find it funny how 'ballsy' I was in high-school. I hadn't realized it til now...

This past weekend I was talking with one of my best friends, who I have known for years. (I think it's been 10 of them now.) And though, recently we haven't seen each in a while or haven't hung out as often as we used to or I would have liked. Her and I can still continue where we would leave off. We can strangely go on without hanging out or texting for months...but then fall back into a day where we catch up.

It is strange, but I would like her to be more dependent. But it's whatever, we get caught up in our lives. It happens.

Anyways, we sat upon another friend's bed and we were just talking about girly things; make-up, fashion trends, and the shit we wore in high school.

I stated in shock "I was pretty freaking fearless in high school. I wore things that weren't really labeled as "normal." I wore red zebra-print skinny pants or black ones that displayed a skull pattern. Along with neon eyeshadow, that brought on a lot of attention; girls were also upset that I purchased the product on ebay and it wasn't sold at an actual store."

My friend laughed and said "I know right? I threw mine out."

I didn't, they are still in the back of my closet...will they ever make a comeback? Iono. Even then at this point in time, they are probably a bit too big for me.

But I can't help looking back on it. It's funny, as time passes; your style changes, as well as your personality.

It's a whirlwind of change.

I'd like to continue being fearless...Dressing as I want to. Wearing what makes me feel/look good. For me. Not to improve others.

I dress for myself. Not to improve guys. And not really to upstage the girls.
