For context, in my country, one must learn at least one foreign language in addition to the country's two official languages, and a lot of people take at least one more foreign language, so usually people speak at least 3 languages

Beldaruit has tried to call Qifrey his son but Qifrey has flat-out shut that down. This was after Qifrey had been to the library and learnt everything about the silverwood curse and, being an angsty teenager, his first reaction to this was to yell at Beldaruit to never call him that, that Qifrey would never be his son because Beldaruit is not fit to be a parent.

Out of the parents, Mary is the workaholic and Tsutomu the nurturing one. The boys always got hugs and were carried around but Masumi, who was born after her father's death, never got the same amount of physical attention

Shuuichi and Mary try to be civil around each other but they're usually reminded of just how similar they are that they can never be too close by for too long because they just get on each other's nerves

All the siblings think they're the normal one in the family. None of them are. (It was the papa.)

Masumi is a hugger. When everything is dealt with, Shuuich and Shuukichi have to learn to expect a surprise hug whenever. Mary, however, doesn't get them because Masumi never learnt to hug her mama

Masumi has a photo of her father that she talks to. Sometimes she gets her brothers to share stories about him

Sometimes the brothers forget just how much younger Masumi is than they are. They talk about some outdated piece of tech and Masumi is all question marks because what is a vcr device (hearing questions like this physically pains me when I talk to kids younger than me)

Mary has terrible insomnia and has medication to battle it. She does not notice that her daughter is also battling insomnia

The older brothers find, at some point, that they need to advocate for Masumi because their mother sometimes forgets to pay attention to any of her needs. This irks Shuuichi, especially, because he'd hoped their mother had changed

Shiho is so irked to be Masumi's cousin when she finds out about her family, but decides to use it to get on Shuuichi's nerves. Shuukichi always wonders why Shuuichi is always so awkward around their newfound cousin (it's payback for Akemi)

Wondering how he got in this situation, Shuuichi, wearing Subaru's face, nodded slowly. "Yes", he says, glaring down at the little girl smirking at him.

"Moreover", Masumi continues, "you're claiming that my other brother, Shuukichi, has known this entire time that he is alive. And he didn't tell me."

Haibara's smirk grows wider. She's clearly enjoying Shuuichi's predicament far too eagerly.

"Well", Shuuichi says, trying to plan for a way out of the situation, "I'm sure your brothers have a good reason to keep you out of the loop. Perhaps there is a real danger to your life if you know where your oldest brother is."

Masumi rolls her eyes. "Right. Out of the two of us, Chuu-nii is definitely the one who doesn't need protection from anything dangerous", she mutters sarcastically and shakes her head. "He doesn't even know how to defend himself! How did he get to know but I didn't?!"

Before Shuuichi can say anything else, Haibara butts in. "Maybe they think you're too young to understand the situation", she suggests unhelpfully. Whether this is a payback for Akemi or something else, Shuuichi does not know.

Haibara's words seem to short-circuit Masumi's brain. She simply blinks for a few times before she finds the words with which to continue.

"What do you mean, 'too young'?!" Masumi shouts in Japanese before changing to English. "'Too young', my arse! I'm a detective, dammit! I've dealt with who knows what kind of lowlifes! And they think I'm too young? That's a load of crap!"

"She curses a lot more in English", Haibara remarks, slurping her smoothie. "I wonder where she gets that."

Definitely not their mother, that much Shuuichi knows. She never cursed around her children. "No idea", Shuuichi says.

"That's it", Masumi says, pulling out her phone, "I'm calling Chuu-nii and having him explain everything! And if he doesn't, I'll make him find a way to get me to see Shuu-nii."

Following his little sister's retreating back with his gaze, Shuuichi wondered how long he could keep Masumi from figuring out the truth. Or, at the very least, how to keep her from trying to knock him out with the same martial arts he'd taught her.

When Masumi finds out that this is not Mary (I'm thinking a nighttime phone call to another BO member when Vermouth thought Masumi was asleep), she makes a run for it, reaching out to Shuukichi for help.

Shuukichi tells her to go to the Kudou mansion, that there's an ally there. Shuuichi greets her wearing the Subaru disguise because he's not planning to tell her quite yet. When Shuukichi arrives, there's a hushed disagreement between him and Shuuichi but the disguise stays on for a while. Luckily Masumi isn't paying too much attention because she's very distraught.

Side note: Yukiko and Yūsaku are home too. Yukiko is trying to comfort Masumi without revealing everything.

The big brothers hatch a plan of getting Masumi's stuff away from the hotel she and fake Mary were staying at. Shuukichi pretends to be slightly drunk and overjoyed to see his mother to lure Vermouth out of the room while Masumi and Shuuichi (still in disguise) sneak in and grab Masumi's stuff.

Once the siblings are back at Kudous', Shuukichi all but forces Shuuichi to tell Masumi the truth about him being alive. Masumi, who is still distraught af, breaks down, first trying to fight Shuuichi, then just crying and shouting at him at the same time until he gathers her into an awkward hug so she can cry her heart out in safety.

Meanwhile, Yukiko and Yūsaku are making sure there's a lot of food in the kitchen for when the siblings manage to get up from the library floor.

They also inform Shinichi about this and ask him to help to come up with a lie why Masumi is living at their house. He suggests saying that Masumi and Subaru are very distant cousins and Subaru couldn't let his young cousin move from hotel to hotel when there was plenty of room at the Kudous'.

That first night when Masumi is at the Kudous', Yukiko all but pampers her. She makes Masumi take a bath and washes her hair, talking about how she always wanted a daughter. She makes Masumi some hot chocolate. Forces Shuuichi to let her sleep in the same room with him because she needs family.

Shuuichi realising that he has an annoying soft spot for Masumi and that he's been a jerk to her. He apologises for yelling at her the last time they met and lets her cry against his shoulder until she falls asleep. Holds her through the night because, frankly, he's also shaken about Mary's supposed death and how close he came to losing Masumi as well.

The following week, fake Mary visits Teitan high school a couple of times to look for Masumi. Masumi's absent from school because she's not well. Ran and Sonoko get worried, and Conan has to tell them about Masumi living at the Kudous'. Ran is enraged when she finds out about fake Mary and nearly goes after her the next time she visits Teitan high. Seven of her classmates must hold her back.

About two months after Masumi has moved to the Kudous', the doorbell rings to reveal a preteen girl. Shuuichi opens, dressed as Subaru, and his brain breaks upon seeing a shrunken Mary. They stare at each other for a bit and the only thing he manages to say is "...not dead, then."

When Masumi sees shrunken Mary, she lets out a wail and rushes in to hug her. Mary, not used to being hugged by Masumi, hisses at first, but one stern look from "Subaru" later, she hugs Masumi back.

Mary explains what happened and why it took her so long to find Masumi (she had help from her agency, but needed to take the long route to Japan in order not to alert the BO). Once Mary is done with her explanation, she asks why Masumi is living with this graduate student. This is when Shuuichi takes off the disguise (again), and Mary yells at him for good half an hour.
