Dear diary,
i tried making eye contact with my reflection and it flinched first.
i think i’m winning.
also i ate cereal at 3am and cried because the spoon was shaped funny.

For some reason I’m not as Scrinchy (Scrooge+Grinch=Scrinch) about the holidays this year as I usually am. I haven’t humbugged a single time yet (I usually start this around the first of October) and the spiders in my brain are very quiet. I even bought a little tree already and tonight I put eggnog in my coffee.
I’m regressing to my childhood which means I’m getting reeallly old.
i wish i had hoards of tiny cherubs that followed me around and held up my boobs with those flower garlands so I would never need a bra
I don’t understand people who have aesthetic blogs. Like how do you not look at a really funny meme and not reblog it because it isn’t black and white hipster quotes that are super dramatic? And how do they find all of those pictures of girls in whimsical dresses walking on train tracks at midnight???
I'm someone who needs a lot of calendars, physical and digital. Daily and monthly (sometimes weekly!) Usually I get calendars for Christmas but last year no one got me any because they thought everyone else would!
I've made sure to add calendars to my Christmas lists and have several picked out for last-minute purchase in case I don't get enough.

So I got my flu shot and the latest Covid booster on Friday, and promptly came down with The Crud (TM). It's not Covid; I tested. It's just The Crud (TM), which is basically just an obnoxious flu. I thought I'd be over it by now, but it's taking a little longer than usual.
The problem is that the cough has kinda ravaged my throat, so I'm trying to rest it by not talking. You'd think that would be easy for someone who only lives with cats, but no. See, I'm one of those people who talks to myself most of the time. I'm either narrating my life (talking myself through whatever I'm doing so I don't lose track), having conversations with invisible companions (like my late wife), or talking back to the TV. Julie and I used to have smart-ass responses to just about everything, and I still do it.
Anyway, my throat needs for me to not talk, and I'm having a really hard time doing that.
"I WANNA SEE DAYLIGHT"
"YOU GOTTA STEP INTO THE DAYLIGHT AND LET IT GO"
Daylight is making the little depressed 15 year old inside me cry, because that's what she wanted to do and say but couldn't put into words even now at 19. Four years later and it's still hard, but I promise: one day I'll be able to let go of my sadness,my worries,my fears and I'll meet you @taylorswift under the daylight
