Social media is ālynch first, maybe question laterā
Which is why callouts are so dangerous these days, especially fake or overblown ones. If youāre knowingly calling out someone as a bad person even though they havenāt abused or harmed anyone IRL but are treating them like they did, youāre part of the problem.
Everything is 1500% more reactionary than itās ever been. People see a callout and go ham harassing the target, instead of taking a step back and making sure theyāve actually:
A) got all the info from a non-biased perspective,Ā and
B) the person in question actually did what theyāre accused of. Not framed in a āoh they like fictional [x] so theyāre clearly [y]āĀ way,Ā Did. They. Do. What. Theyāre. Accused. Of.
Callouts should be a last resort, not a first step. They should be about someoneās actual real lifeĀ behaviours with other people, not just because they happen to like fictional problematic shit.
And if you doĀ want to add their fictional crap to a callout, donāt make it the first or onlyĀ fucking thing you talk about.
If youāre talking about someone who grooms minors, focus on thatĀ first, not what they ship.
If someoneās a huge racist? Donāt even mention they stan [x] if itās irrelevant to their racism.Ā
Fiction does not take priority over other living people.
