I really should not be informed when there is a "Friends of the Library" sale somewhere.
(I might have bought 58 books this morning. DON'T JUDGE ME, IT'S FOR A GOOD CAUSE!)

READING SPACES is a feature where I showcase pictures of libraries, collections, books, bookshelves, and whatnot that I find absolutely breathtaking. So I share. These become our many reading spaces and figurative lands to which we sail.

I could only dream of having a room like this in my home (although I hope itβs a dream that comes true one day!!)

Yep, this is me!
Since I know you're a book collector do you have any tips for books that smell really bad like old books that are extra musty etc
If it's especially bad and has that damp/musty smell (instead of the "normal" old book smell, which I don't mind at all), I'll put 4 or 5 fabric softener sheets throughout the book and change their position every few days. I don't even know if it actually helps, but it seems like it does.
But I would NOT recommend doing that with genuinely valuable rare books or collectible volumes that you want protect from further damage because there's always a risk that there may be some sort of oils that alter the condition of the book's pages.

How many physical books do you own?
I went a little crazy in April with visits to the Friends of the Library sales, so between that and the normal books that publishers regularly send me, I'm probably up to around 6,500 at this point.
"What shall I do with my books?" was the question; and the answer, "Read them," sobered the questioner. But if you cannot read them, at any rate handle them and, as it were, fondle them. Peer into them. Let them fall open where they will. Read on from the first sentence that arrests the eye. Then turn to another. Make a voyage of discovery, taking soundings of uncharted seas. Set them back on your shelves with your own hands. Arrange them to your own plan, so that if you do not know what is in them, you at least know where they are. If they cannot be your friends, let them at any rate be your acquaintances.

In that photo you posted a few days ago of yours books you were organizing I saw what looked like post its in them. Is that for bookmarks? Do you write notes inside when you read?
No, I've mentioned this before but I NEVER write inside my books because I'm not a monster. The Post-It notes and tabs/flags are how I mark a section or phrase of note or something that I may reference later. If there is a note that I want to make or some sort of annotation to the text that I want to add, I'll write it on a larger Post-It and place it where the aforementioned monsters would deface their books (I'm not judging you if you do write in your own books...just calling you a monster and vandal and suggesting that you shouldn't be allowed to have nice things). When I'm at my organizational best, the Post-Its are color-coded for specific subjects or reasons. But my organizing usually falls apart about 83 pages into every book.
The books that I use later for projects or know I'm going to refer back to frequently often look like this after I read them:
