Since you're a decade older than me (apologizes for making you feel old), what is the wisest piece of advice you can give me?
It's a piece of advice, but I don't know if it is wise or if it is useful to you. It is what I have learned crawling back from the depths of rock-bottom. It may sound simple, but back then it was very important lesson to me:Â
Learn who you are and be that person unapologetically. The strongest bonds between humans are between those who resonate on the same frequency. Conforming to an ideal image you have of yourself, or that others impose on you, will only impair your own existential experience. Accept that you have strengths and weaknesses and view them both kindly. Accept that others have strengths and weaknesses and view them both kindly. Life might be full of competitions, but living is not a competition. There's no such thing as a perfect person, there's no true gratification in perceiving yourself better than another. So be kind. Remember that opinions cannot increase or decrease your human value. Find strength in the fact that you can handle anything life throws at you when you react from the core of being. You cannot be perfect, but you can perfectly be you. In any situation, that's the most you can do.Â
If there were to be such a thing as a purposed existence, it would be this: you are unique in the core of your being, what you bring to life's table will be unique as such. The connections you'll make by being you will cause an ongoing ripple in the fabric of the universe. You matter. You matter so much, even beyond your existence. Keep growing, stay curious and open-minded; you are in a constant state of evolution and part of human evolution as a whole. When your time on earth is over, status and possession won't matter. What will matter is the people you have touched, and the people by whom you were touched.
