Forgot to say I'm done with the octagons for my Persian Tiles blanket. I've started work on the granny squares but I lost my momentum.

Alright guess who's sick *again*. I feel like it's every other week at this point. But I've been stressing a lot, and I haven't gotten proper sleep in my efforts to re-set into my work-hours. So it's not that weird I keep getting sick. It's getting easier to sleep through to 10AM though, I no longer jump awake as soon as I hear my roommate, my brain is getting used to her routines.
It seems like me and my new colleague don't work very well together, I seem to be getting on her nerves a lot. She tries to be nice anyway, but I'm not that good at not letting it affect me when people are annoyed around me. Especially when I'm already tired. It will get better as summer goes on.
I finally went to a music quiz again! It was football themed though, because of the world championships. And I don't care for sports so it didn't go very well. But I got to hang out with my friends so I'm happy. Hopefully I'll be able to go to more quizzes before summer's end.
I've been doing less crochet, as predicted, but not so much because of work as because it started being unbearably squeaky, and I can't be fucked with hearing that for too long at a time. I'm finishing up with colourway #3 octagons though.
I've also done less crochet cause I've finally gotten my hands on my patch pants again! I decided to make use of an old sock to patch up a hole. They're not proper patch pants yet, but I'm mostly having fun with it all. I will not be putting patches on there just to make the pants look cooler, instead I'm letting them develop slowly as I make repairs. I'm happy with the latest sock-patch, it turned out cute and I took extra time to secure the edges and make it look nice.
It looks very pink on camera next to the blue jeans, but it is white. My next project on the pants will be sturdy-ing up the seams around my nirvana patch. I'm having a hard time figuring out what other bands I can make patches for, but I might make one for The Smith Street Band
Me and my friend are now on season 2 of Twin peaks, and all the silly little plot lines are coming back to my memory and I can't believe how they're all gonna fit in the season. I'd completely forgotten about Dick Tremayne, for example. God.
I'm listening to Arctic Monkeys' Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not right now. It's the one I tend to reach for lately when I feel too lazy to deal with my LPs. Trying to rest as much as I can so I don't have to skip work now when it's super busy with football matches every night.
I'm settling in after my big trip and the long sunlight hours are really throwing me off much more than expected. And the familiar smells are hitting like antidepressants, even though I wasn't exactly doing bad before I came.
I for some reason turned into some crocheting machine during the last week, how I had time with it between all the packing I don't know. It's probably that I was too antsy to read. But I've gotten quite far with the colourway #3 octagons and I have also come almost as far with the colourway #2 octagons. I am completely finished with the fans and it feels very good to know I don't need to do any more for this blanket. I might finish the whole thing by the end of june if I keep this up, but then again I am going back to work this week so it feels unlikely. Here's where I'm at with #2 and #3
I did give up on Fauna by Donna Mazza, but I had misunderstood the premise and it wasn't going to fit in my bags anyways so I gave it to a charity shop. I brought Pessoa back home with me though, and Lost Souls I left behind with my partner because I have my other copy here at home. Not sure when I'm going to get back into reading again.
This summer is going to be a good one. I've moved in with my friend and her apartment is really lovely. And work won't be bad, I just need to get back into the groove and get used to it all again. I'm extremely jetlagged and I've been fighting sleep all day, hopefully I'll readjust soon enough.
I've made progress on my jigsaw but I don't think I'll finish it before next week. I'm trying to take cool progress photos but I suspect the light conditions will vary a lot and make it look weird since I am relying on natural light. The jigsaw depicts a painting by Bouguereau, Birth of Venus. I'm toying with the idea of making a gif of the photos once I'm done, but in the meantime here's where I'm at.
I've also made progress on my Persian Tiles, I actually finished colourway #1 of the octagons on the train earlier this week! I was meeting a friend for some op-shopping and I had an hour or so to kill. It was a very cozy feeling to get to sit there in the sunshine with the ocean out the window.
Making several of the same tile at the same time is going so much faster than doing them one by one like I was doing. It took me about a year to finish the first 5 tiles, then the next 3 only took a few weeks. But then again it's probably because I'm crocheting more often and it's more motivating to continue since I don't need to be inspecting the instructions for the entire process.
That being said, I have made some headway on colourway #3 of the octagons. Don't know why exactly i skipped #2, but I'll do that one next. Maybe I'm saving the prettiest for last. I'm working on the fans at the moment of writing, they are a bit pesky to get through but as long as I have something to watch meanwhile I'm happy.
Speaking of watching: this week me and the roommates are trying to finish up Twin Peaks: The Return. We have one episode left and if I'm honest I was kinda losing my grip on it by the penultimate episode.
Tomorrow I am –in theory– having a going-away party and I have no idea who will show up. So today I am venturing out into the world despite my cold to acquire some snacks. And some drinks. And maybe some napkins. I am quite nervous and I wish I could have spent this week packing my bags instead of laying in bed, but alas. Stressing will not make me less sick.
