“We need to get Albus,” Effie fretted, wringing her hands in her lap until Monty reached over and stilled them. 

“Albus knows this castle better than he knows himself. If anyone can keep out of their way, it’s him,” Monty said, trying to reassure her, but his tone wasn’t exactly convincing.

“Hey, James, are those traps you set up still there?” Sirius asked slowly, a plan forming in his head. He and Regulus hadn’t been permitted to watch television or films unless they were boring documentaries that would help further their studies, but Uncle Alphard had snuck a film into the house one evening he was babysitting, and together they’d sat and watched it. If one kid could do that much damage to two thugs with just a household of items, imagine what the four of them could do to this lot with an entire castle at their disposal. 

“Yeah, they are, why?”

A sly smirk spread across Sirius’s face as he put the final touches to his plan. 

“James, have you ever watched Home Alone?” 

The expression on James’s face mirrored his own. 

“Oh, they’re not going to know what’s hit them!”

“Well, this can only go disastrously,” Remus groaned. “All right, I’m in.”

“What are you planning?” Lyall asked, eyeing them up. 

“We’re going to run them out of the castle and wish they’d never heard of Sirius and Regulus Black,” Regulus said proudly, standing up and going to James’s side. 

They left the room, followed by the hushed protests of Effie, Monty and Lyall, but this was their home, and they were damn well going to protect it.
