Thought for Perthannabeth, Ethan as a agent of Styx and being tied to Percy who bathed in the Styx and Annabeth who is his mortal point. The three being tied together and going on a quest to correct the curse because Hera and the Roman rivers do not have the authority to return Percy’s mortality. So Ethan has to correct the imbalance one way or another.

ethan is the one who cuts it. bc. i was thinking about percy standing there and an invisible thread extends from his back and attaches to annabeth as his mortal point and ethan steps up to cut it. so. he’s the one who cuts it. so i thought of this. anyway.
ethan being attached to them too is interesting. also implies that luke would’ve been attached to percabeth when he was alive too lol. anyway,, i was thinking of percethan’s dynamic somewhat recently actually in how ethan made choice after choice to the detriment of percy and percy had every opportunity to kill or hurt him for it but percy always showed mercy to ethan. and nemesis as the goddess of retribution means ethan is. so far in debt to percy. so up on olympus, he finally turns against kronos in an attempt to aid percy and that recovers part of his debt but then he “dies” so that debt isn’t really…fully laid off?
and now percy is the only person left alive bearing the curse of achilles. three people in total have had it. achilles, luke, and percy. achilles and luke have died in battle to it. it kind of spells an imminent death for him. in battle. so with the war with gaea coming up, the brewing civil war, and polybotes with his army of monsters…there’s a lot of battles for percy to die in.
so ethan is sent out to fully pay off that debt and save percy’s life by washing away the curse of achilles since it’s a greek blessing and should only be able to be washed away by the greeks still. the whole. roman waters thing was so odd to me lol just a way to nerf percy bc he would’ve had that shit packed up in a day w the coa
ethan also kinda being indebted to annabeth since he almost killed her that one time. unless you wanna count his betrayal of kronos as payment to both percy and annabeth. but if it was just for percy then he still has something to pay off for annabeth.
