idk why or where this stemmed from but I had a very random percethabeth au where Percy and Annabeth are happily married in a big old money house with old money vibes (idk what the situation with that is), and for some reason they have Ethan hanging around as their sort-of butler. He's mostly their butler on paper and he does work his ass off, but if he wanted to just kick his feet up for the day, he very well could. Percabeth are also still very involved demigods and live quietly but deal with problems swiftly. It's all very *Annabeth dramatically sighing and throwing herself on a fainting couch* "I can't be bothered with this, Ethan, fetch a tray for me, would you?" "of course, madam" *leaves and comes back with a silver tray carrying a glass of wine and some throwing knives*
I think my inspo was those adult characters in middle grade/YA stories who are all cool and mysterious and capable and know everything about the weird magic/monster stuff. So I'm looking at this from the perspective of a kid who sees Percabeth as cool mentors, but then they see Percy and Ethan being very friendly and start being concerned that Percy is having an affair with the butler, and then they see Ethan being very friendly with Annabeth and start being concerned that Annabeth is also having an affair with the butler.
