pensivepblossom said: The Frog Prince
A golden ball is a golden ball, unless it’s something more And a frog in a well who’s under a spell - you know that part, I’m sure. But the truth is a queer and strange thing, my dear, and I’ll tell you this as a friend, Whether you follow a trail or an ancient tale, pay attention to what’s called the end.
We did wish him well, at first.
Most of us weren't princes. Most of us were stableboys and wanderers and merchants' sons who caught Her fancy, but we all ended up as frogs in the end. You'd be Her favorite for a while, and then when She tired of you, She would choose another pretty young boy, and you would be cast out, to follow the trail of all who came before you, to the well.
The well is deeper than anyone else knows, and we suppose there's a hundred or more of us down here. Any of us could have found the ball. Any of us could have bargained with the pretty young girl who used to play with it. Any of us would have welcomed a warm bed and decent food for the first time in decades. Any of us could have been freed by a kiss.
But he found it, and he slept on her pillow and ate from her plate and regained his former shape and won her hand in marriage. And we were happy for him, truly. But as time went on, it seemed that he forgot his brethren in the well - or rather, that he had never thought of us to begin with. It was all to do with the kiss. It doesn't have to be true love's kiss, you know - that's just how the story goes. It just has to be a kiss from a human, not even a girl. Suddenly, there were two humans just outside the well who knew how to set us free, and one of them knew where to find us. But nothing changed. Our lives were still dark, still cold, still wet, and we were still four-legged and dripping mucus, far away from our friends and families and lovers. All of us except for one.
We wished him well. But only at first.

You were super awful sick for days and you got stuff done today, just not writing stuff but sometimes one has to be sacrificed for t'other, anyway I am very impressed at your getting anything done at all, go you!
Aww, thanks. I just wish I felt productive when working on things that don’t involve writing/editing. :-P

Liz’s #Anxiety. Let’s have a chat. Let’s have a chat about NO. Let’s leave Liz be. No more making Liz self-doubt for like the rest of the month. Or year! Or ever! Come on Liz’s #Anxiety, be a team player. You’re not needed right now.

I’m so happy for you! I’m not going because it was $27.50 in chicago but the box office fees bumped it to nearly $39 and I got mad. But you, you’ll have a good time and tell me how fun it was, yes?
Jeez really? That's NASTY. Ours got bumped up by like $5 which was annoying but relatively tolerable at least. Over $10 markup is goddamn ridiculous. :\
:D Yes, absolutely!!!
List 15 things that make you happy (I was tagged by kellyakabilly).
A clean and organized workspace. Seriously, I have some serious issues working in chaos.
A sunny and cold winter morning. The sun streams in and warms my apartment but it's cold out and my breath makes clouds as it comes out of my nose. Perfect.
Finding the perfect gift for a friend or family member. I love to find awesome things that people will love. Usually I ask what they might like, but sometimes I find something completely out of the ordinary and it works out for the best.
My apartment. It is my sanctuary. I come home from work (which can be chaotic) and I have my own space to do with what I want... I can put the art I like on the walls, listen to what music I like, and watch what I want on the TV.
Nile. I love this organization. I was stressed out about things that possibly could happen tomorrow night but I think it will go well. Three more meetings while I'm Queen!
A good book. I'm currently reading "Will Grayson Will Grayson" by John Green and David Levithan and I'm loving it so far. It has the galloping pace of Green's writing that I love. I'm alternating with "Quiet: The Power of Introverts" by Susan Cain. This one I love because I am an introvert and I want to improve the way I work with others. Also it's interesting to read about how introverts can be great leaders. It's inspiring, but sometimes discouraging when I see the people who are promoted.
This is going to sound silly, but oranges. We get a box from my grandma every year and this year they have been especially lovely. Grapefruits would be in the same vein... I love those with my breakfast.
Speaking of, breakfast! I don't get to take a leisurely breakfast at home unless I'm here on a weekend, but I love getting Tim's with my Sunday newspaper and reading the newspaper while I drink the coffee. Or I like making pancakes and having juice while watching the morning news early on a Saturday morning.
Art. I like many types... modern seems to be my art du jour lately. I have a cool print from the groovy 60s in my office that totally brightens the space. I like colorful stuff.
Music. Music from many eras and on many types of media (records, tapes, CDs, digital).
A good movie. Either a classic that I love (*cough* Casablanca *cough*) or a new film that I want to see.
Cozy pajamas. I'm wearing my fuzzy ninja turtle pants and a t-shirt tonight.
Podcasts. They keep my sanity at work (I've revamped my podcast list and I should do another writeup of the ones I've added).
This is going to sound dumb, but my playstation 3. It plays DVDs and blu-rays, plays games, and can even stream. I prefer my roku for streaming but the PS3 will work in a pinch.
NPR and PBS. If it weren't for these media outlets, I wouldn't be informed or entertained. I even listen to NPR podcasts!
I'm tagging schmeeko, pensivepblossom, vintagestyledheart, evelyngorfram, discombobulateddavidduchovny, and wentdog.

I studied abroad in London! It is both delightful and harsh to do, but I have great memories of it, even the screwy parts. I’ll constantly wish the best for you.
Really? Cool! Yeah, I heard it's pretty expensive, especially when it comes to housing and food. I already figured that out with housing though... I booked my school housing for the semester and it managed to be even more expensive per month than my school's notoriously expensive housing :/// Plus, the fact that I can't find a place to stay there for the 3 nights between arriving and the start of my university housing for under like $300, even in hostels. But, at least most of the attractions/museums are free! and I'm not paying tuition haha
