Hello! I hope you didn't get this question before; A child was taken away from his father after being proved physically and psychologically abused by him. The father eventually gains back custody of the child after having gone through therapy and proven that he could take care of him once more. How much time would social services keep an eye on the family after that? Would they visit them every X amount of time? Or would they completely close the case after a while? The father would have to go through several programs in order to prove that he could now take care of his child. Before he could regain custody the father and child would do supervised visits to see how they act and so that they can gain a certain amount of trust.
However if the child does not feel safe going to live with his/her father then that will be taken into consideration.
There isn’t a fixed amount of time that they would keep an eye on the family but they would do visits every now and then just to see how things are going. These visits can be planned or unplanned so that they Social Worker can see how interactions between the family is when they aren’t expecting to be visited.
After a while the case would be closed. The amount of time is up to you.
Sometimes a Social Worker can have thirty or more cases that they are working on. This means that visits can go overlooked or the Social Worker might miss something important because they are trying to keep up with their immense work load.
