@ambitiousauthor yeah so began writing discussing the situation before realizing it was the actual separation that was to be written.... part 2 is open for anyone to write, that can be the actual...heist? =========================== âWhatâs this about?â Jackdawfoot asked, struggling to hold back a yawn. Fungichomp had sent word for them, Myrtlewing, Alderstar, Bristleblaze, Aloemist, Gorsebriar, and Peanutfur to gather together as soon as they could.
âIâm worried,â Fungichomp told them, facing the half-circle they formed around him. His fur itched with impatience. âCherrystar is going to have kits.â The she-cat had spoken to him the other day, briefly letting him know that he should expect another addition to his daycare.Â
âGood for her?â Bristleblaze narrowed his eyes at Fungichomp as though he were stupid.
âCherrystar is a kit-killer. Those victims included her own.â
âHer own?â Gorsebriar echoed in disbelief.
âHow horrible!â Aloemist exclaimed, fur bristling to match with the prickles in her skin.
âWhy?â Jackdawfoot asked roughly. Fungichomp expected him, more than anyone, to be the one to ask that question.Â
âSome sort of sacrifice, I think,â Fungichomp responded. Between living his own life and watching the kits, he hadnât had much time to watch over what the living cats had been doing, but he saw enough to know that Cherrystar couldnât be left alone with a kit.
âIf itâs a thing she did for Starclan, she probably wonât do it again, not here,â Aloemist put in thoughtfully.
âI wouldnât take the risk,â Gorsebriar told her. âWhat if she thinks killing a Dark Kit will get her into Starclan?â
âRight,â Peanutfur agreed. âOr she could take the anger of her failures out on it.â
Fungichomp cleared his throat. âOkay, so, weâre in agreement that that situation isnât safe. How are we going to get Applekit out?â
âI donât see why we have to,â Myrtlewing put in, nonchalantly picking at his claws.
âSheâs a kit-killer,â Fungichomp repeated more emphatically.Â
Myrtlewing nodded, but if he hadnât heard what was discussed before, he didnât seem any more alert now. âAnd the problem isâŚ?â
âThat she could kill the kits,â Bristleblaze said with a deep exhale.
âRight,â Myrtlewing nodded again. âAnd the problem isâŚ?â
âMyrtlewing, you twink!â Fungichomp just barely snapped. âAlderstar, silence your shimmer, please.â
Alderstarâs eyes narrowed defensively, and Fungichomp began to wonder if he should prepare for attack. Then Alderstar laughed instead and knocked his shoulder against Myrtlewing, who seemed more bothered by Alderstarâs silent teasing than Fungichompâs commentâanother relief.
âWhatâs the pattern?â Myrtlewing asked.
âWhat?âÂ
âKillers have patterns,â Myrtlewing said as though it were obvious. Here, it probably should be. âWhat age does she target? If she never killed anyone below two moons old, just take her when she drops the things off at your area. She should be safe until then. Or,â he added, âfind out how to make it so that her kits donât fit her profile.â
Fungichomp listened with pricked ears, and remembered why Myrtlewing was brought to these meetings in spite of hisâŚless than favourable thoughts on kit death, or death in general. âIâll have to look into that,â Fungichomp thought aloud. âBut it would have to be quickly, before theyâre born.â
âGreat.â Myrtlewing stood and stretched, his legs shaking. âFun to be part of team kitnappers.â
âWeâre not kitnapping anyone!â Bristleblaze hissed.
âRight,â Alderstar scratched his ear. âJust taking a kit away from their parent.â
âFor their safety,â Fungichomp growled. âAnd nothing needs to be done yet. We just need to keep an eye on her.â
