Hello, there fellow new mama.
This is a blog dedicated to all the new moms out there who feel like they might be losing their minds during a pandemic, becoming a new mom, working, and being a wife/partner. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
I am 32 and I found out I was pregnant with my first child about a month before quarantine began. It was amazing news for both me and hubby. Once the craziness of CoVid-19 began though, I will be honest and say I completely PANICKED. I’m usually the (somewhat) sane one when it comes to most situations, but this completely threw me off my rocker. I think it might have been too much too soon. Living and working in NYC didn’t make it any better, considering we became the epicenter, shortly thereafter. Thankfully, my job closed a few days after and kept us on payroll up until recently. I work in the beauty industry so we are not considered essential but I am under the LVMH umbrella and they have really come through for their workers. #grateful Hubby is an essential worker and was only out for about 9 days and has been working ever since. We are taking crazy precautions to keep each other safe since he is out in the world everyday. (To be honest I might have gotten Covid early March but was never diagnosed and it only felt like a head cold. Antibodies testing results coming soon.)
Moving on to the new norm, NYC is moving into Phase 2 - we are opening up hair/nail salons, retail stores, etc. Yay. Being home from March-June has been a blessing and a curse. I am so grateful that I was able to keep myself and my unborn child safe by placing myself under quarantine for this long. However, it literally feels like I am a prisoner in my own home sometimes. You can only binge netflix and walk your dog so much until you feel like you’re in the Truman show. Nonetheless, I am grateful that we are still able to feed ourselves, keep a roof over our heads, and maintain our health during these crazy ass times. I’ve joined the mommy forums and have been reading the baby books, so I really do see that I am not the only one that feels this way. Connecting with other moms thanks to the interwebs has been a blessing. We get to share stories, sonogram pictures, ask questions, and even make new friends. Apps like Peanut and WhatToExpect have been amazing during this time. (not a plug, they’re legit awesome.)
But enough about that...
Throughout my posts, I will be sharing advice from strangers, blogs, my mom, my friends etc in between bathroom breaks, binge sessions, and crying bits and then actually documenting what ends up working for me. Disclaimer, I don’t have a clue as to what I’m doing. However, between Hubby and I, I am sure we will end up figuring it out. (Sorry to my child in advance, we’re only human.)
BRB, gotta pee.

Wanted to share my story, for anyone struggling with the year 2020! Motherhood is tough, but combined with a pandemic it is downright sucky!

Repost: @swrightolsen Let’s talk about mothering a newborn during a pandemic. Motherhood and raising a baby can feel isolating at times, especially during this time where it doesn’t feel safe to be in public. My days have been full of baby rocking, comforting a toddler, leaking milk, night sweats and endlessly losing pacifiers. It can be easy to feel pretty lost in this postpartum haze. Having a support network has really helped me navigate this period of uncertainty. I've been using @peanut to ask for advice and connect with other women who are experiencing the same challenges as me and navigating life with a newborn. I was first introduced to the app after I had Esmé and it's been a huge source of comfort and support. Being a part of a safe, online community where you can ask questions and get advice has really helped me, especially as I'm unable to go to any baby classes. If you're a mom, mom-to-be or trying to conceive, I encourage you to join @peanut. It's a beautiful way to feel part of a community of women who are supporting one another, now more than ever. #ad #peanutapp https://www.instagram.com/p/CHegofxjkSv/?igshid=15eqlin3fwbn1
